Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Gleason was born April 5, 1940, in Tulsa, Okla., to Mary Lou and Jack Gleason. The family later moved to Oklahoma City where he spent most of his childhood and graduated from Classen High School. Upon graduation, he accepted a football scholarship to Texas A&M University. He later transferred to West Texas State in Canyon where he earned his B.B.A. degree. After graduation, Mr. Gleason attended Oklahoma University Law School for two years. Prior to graduation, he accepted a position with the State of Oklahoma Crime Commission where he would eventually become the director. In 1971, Jim met the love of his life, Eva Mosley, who was living in Amarillo. They married on March 24, 1973, and made their home in Oklahoma City. In 1975, they welcomed their first child, Christopher, into the family followed by a daughter, Jennifer, in 1977. In 1978, the family moved to Amarillo where Jim worked alongside his father, Jack, in the family business, Public Steel Inc. Jim served as president of the company until his death. Survivors include his wife, Eva Gleason; a son, Christopher N. Gleason and wife Rebecca of Amarillo; a daughter, Jennifer A. Henderson and husband Ryan of Durham, N.C.; a granddaughter, Caroline Ashlee Gleason; and a brother, David L. Gleason of Amarillo. Jefferson St., Amarillo TX 79101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Robert "Bill" Hare William Robert "Bill" Hare, 85, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 15, 2007. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with Bob Thomas of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Hare was born April 3, 1921, to George and Minnie Hare of Swearengin. He served his country in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. He retired from the U.S. post office. After retirement he continued his part-time hobby of farming. He spent many hours doing for others with the ARC and driving patients to the Harrington Cancer Center. He was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank the staff of Odyssey Hospice for their kind words and help. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George; and a sister, Mabel. Survivors include his wife, Nell; two daughters, Donna Crossley and Dana Turk and husband Jerry; a granddaughter, Amy Phillips and husband Kale; three great-grandsons, Judson, Jedd and Jensen Phillips; and many friends, all of Amarillo. The family requests that memorials be made to ARC, Harrington Cancer Center or a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Gene Cudd SPEARMAN - Gene Cudd, 85, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church in Spearman with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Cudd was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Ochiltree County to India Mattie Belle Jackson and Jesse E. Cudd. In 1942, he married Frances Sheets. They lived for 28 years on a farm near Perryton before moving to Spearman in 1971, where he lived until his death. At the age of 18, Mr. Cudd started his career in the farm equipment business with the John Deere dealership in Booker. He continued his career at Perryton Implement Co., beginning as a mechanic and advancing to salesman with part ownership. In 1953, he founded Hansford Implement Co. in the former location of Womble Hardware in Spearman. The business expanded to its current location in Spearman with branches in Pampa, Perryton and Dumas. During his career, Mr. Cudd was recognized by Deere and Co. numerous times as a Signature Dealer for his outstanding level of performance and customer service. His honesty, work ethic and dedication to his employees and customers will be his legacy in the business. As an active supporter of his community, Mr. Cudd served as president of the Spearman Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Ambassadors, the Hansford County Shrine Club and the Southwest Association of Farm Equipment Dealers. He also served as a Spearman city councilman, director of the Yucca Council of Girl Scouts, charter sponsor of Boy Scouts, director of the National Agricultural Equipment Dealers Association and was a founding director of First National Bank of Spearman. In addition, he had been recognized as Citizen of the Year in Spearman and as having the Business of the Year. A loyal supporter of both the Ochiltree and Hansford County livestock shows, Mr. Cudd also was a 50-year Mason, a longtime Rotarian an active member of the United Methodist Church and a former member of the Golden Spread Senior Citizens Association Board. An avid fan of Texas Tech University and a scholarship donor to the Red Raider Club, Mr. Cudd enjoyed attending both Red Raider and Lady Raider events with his wife, Frances. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving and giving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; a son, Donnie; his parents; his stepmother, Garnett Hampton Cudd; two sisters, Lucille Witt and Esther Overbey; and a brother, Warren Cudd. Survivors include a daughter, Genette Henderson and husband Bob of Winston- Salem, N.C.; a son, Mike Cudd and wife Pat of Spearman; five grandchildren, Ryan Henderson and wife Jenni of Durham, N.C., Eric Cudd and wife Tisha of Spearman, Evan Cudd of Dallas, Diane Henderson of Washington, D.C., and Chris Cudd of Lubbock; a half brother, Coke Cudd of Perryton; and a half sister Betty Neal of Perkins, Okla. Jarrett DUMAS - James W. Jarrett, 76, of Canyon, formerly of Dumas, died Thursday, March 15, 2007. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Jarrett was born Feb. 17, 1931, in Temple, Okla., to Burt Ramsey and Rachel Lynn Jarrett. He grew up on a farm outside of Hartley, then after his senior year moved to Dalhart. James met his wife, Dorothy Hurt, in Dalhart and they were married on Dec. 15, 1949, in Clayton, N.M. They moved to Dumas in 1954, then in 2005 moved to Canyon. He worked in maintenance for the Texas Highway Department. He was preceded in death by a son, Lanny Len Jarrett; and a brother, Burt Ramsey Jarrett Jr. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Michelle Bolwahnn and husband Patrick of Canyon and Shawyna Jarrett of Houston; a son, James Calvin Jarrett and wife Delora of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Jeannie Lynne Olson, Jill Leane Whitehead, James Warren Jarrett II, Jimmy D. Mrs. Sharp married her husband, Thomas Sharp, on May 28, 1956, at Ramstein Airbase, Germany. She was very proud to become a naturalized American citizen in 1959, in Duluth, Minn. She loved classical music and watching figure skating. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and taking in beautiful mountain scenery. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her flower beds. She was loved and respected by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and by the many lives that she touched. She was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Walter Sharp.
