Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Dutton Funeral Home. Mrs. Bradford was born July 23, 1920, in Higley, Ariz. She grew up in the community of Buck Creek near Paducah, and was in the 1936 graduating class of Valley View High School. During the 1940s, she moved to Inglewood, Calif., where she was an original "Rosie the Riveter," working for North American Aircraft during World War II. She married William T. Bradford in 1944, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. They later moved to Amarillo, where she worked and retired from Consolidated Foods. In 1984, after retirement, they moved to Iowa Park, where she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Gary and wife Gay of Iowa Park and Jim and wife Linda of Costa Mesa, Calif.; three grandchildren, Dawna Coleman and husband Andy of Nashville, Tenn., Bret Bradford and wife Jennifer and Tina Via, all of Houston; three great-grandchildren, Denelle, Tyler and Rylan; and a brother, Merlyn Love and wife Pauline of Turlock, Calif. N St., Midland, TX 79701. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lloyd Vernon Cook KERRVILLE - Lloyd Vernon Cook, 85, died Friday, March 16, 2007. Memorial services were Monday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church by Grimes Funeral Chapels. He was a talented and respected professional artist and teacher in Amarillo for more than 40 years. Lloyd was born Dec. 25, 1921, in Fitzhugh, Okla., to Ernest Elmer Cook and Leota Oliphant Cook. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was promoted to staff sergeant in Okinawa, Japan. After the war, Lloyd was partner and art director for Monte Rosenwald and Associates advertising agency in Amarillo for 14 years, before opening his own business, Advertising Art Studios. From 1971 to 1986, Lloyd taught commercial art for Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo and retired as art director. Lloyd was also an accomplished watercolor painter and his art is in private and public collections in the Texas Panhandle area. Lloyd was first married to Margaret Barber of Hereford from 1947 to 1969 and then was married to Audrey Harkreader of California from 1972 to 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Cook of Kerrville and Sheila Cook- Dolciame of DeSoto; a grandson, Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Kent and wife Sgt. 1st Class Christina Kent; and four great-grandsons, Kolby Kent, Devon Kent and Aiden Kent. Georgia St. Mrs. Carper was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She worked at the Canton Cafe in downtown Amarillo in the 1950s and other cafes in Amarillo for many years. She loved music and loved to dance at the Nat and Avalon ballrooms. She was very kind-hearted and would help others. She always seemed up for what was right and she touched many lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe H. and Lissie Glenn Puryear; a brother, G.E. Puryear; a niece, Glenda Lusk; and a nephew, Josh Atwater. Survivors include a brother, B.J. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Stephen Gaines officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Moore was born Oct. 1, 1918, to Lee Marion Day and Lillian Blanche Day near Whitesboro. She grew up on farms in North Texas and Oklahoma. She graduated from Port (Oklahoma) High School in 1937. At the urging of her best friend, Jewel wrote the best friend's brother to cheer him up as he served in the Navy during World War II. In her words, she guessed she did a good job as she and Joseph Clinton Moore were married June 11, 1945, in Huntington Beach, Calif. While Clint served, Jewel worked for the Navy Department in San Diego. In 1946, prior to their firstborn, they moved to Amarillo to be closer to family. Mrs. Moore was a hard worker, sometimes working two jobs to help provide for the family during tough times. She retired from St. Anthony's Hospital after many years of service. Mrs. Moore was a Christian woman, a faithful, long- standing member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church and belonged to the Wesley Comrades Sunday School Class. She served as an officer of various church organizations, was a regular volunteer in the church kitchen and folded weekly church newsletters for many years. Mrs. Moore loved to cook and bake, especially when she could share with others. She passed on her skills, or at least her secrets, to her family. She taught her granddaughters to make delicious chocolate pies. And she taught her grandsons how to make cornbread dressing using Grandmother's secret recipe. Mrs. Moore enjoyed living at the Canyons Retirement Center. She made many friends there. She had fun with her lunch bunch each day. She particularly looked forward to the potluck suppers, and so enjoyed the entertainment provided by the "Half-Price Band." The family would like to thank the staffs of the Canyons, BSA N.M.I. Unit and BSA Hospice for kind and wonderful care. Mrs. Moore was a good neighbor and friend to many. She spent her life taking care of others. To those who knew and loved her, she truly was a "Jewel." She lived her life according to the short poem, "Kindness" by Grellet. I shall pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, Or any good thing I can do, Let me do it now; Let me not defer it or neglect it, For I shall not pass this way again. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991; and a sister, Villa Day Resetaritz, in 2003. He was a industrial salesman and traveled the entire Texas Panhandle during a long sales career. He worked for Nunn Electric for many years and was also co-owner of P&C Supply until his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Disney Channel with his great-granddaughters, watching sports on TV, playing pool, fishing and RV trips. She had been making her home in Broken Arrow with her son since October. Pauline was born July 24, 1918, in Tucumcari. She attended and graduated from the Tucumcari school system in 1936. She had been an active member of First Baptist Church in Tucumcari and while making her home in Colorado City Lake, Texas, for 16 years, was a member of Dorn Methodist Church. For many years she had been a landlord in charge of numerous rental properties around the Tucumcari area. She had been a member of Tucumcari Garden Club. She married T. L. "Peaches" Brady in 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father and mother; a brother, Johnny Surguy; a sister, Ann Schoenburg; a son-in-law, Derrial Collins; and a granddaughter, Jean Brady.
