"Mawmaw" Barrett Lillian V. "Mawmaw" Barrett, 98, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 29, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Barrett married Wylie Houston Barrett in 1926. She was an oil painter and a beloved grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wylie, in 1970; and a daughter, Angie Montgomery, in 2001. Survivors include three grandchildren, Penny Nicholes, Wylie Montgomery and wife Robin and Steven Aycock; six great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christopher and Jeremy Montgomery, Jason Barrett Painter, Brandy Carranza and Stephanie Aycock; and four great-great grandchildren, Leah and Michael Montgomery and Dakota and Skyler Carranza. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa. Mrs. Beighle was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Electra and graduated from Electra High School. She moved to Skellytown in 1944 from Electra. She married Melvin Gene Beighle on Nov. 23, 1946, in Skellytown. Melvin and Jo made the original gift that founded The Hope & Healing Place, a grief and loss center serving children and families in the Panhandle. In 1989, Jo retired from the Pampa Independent School District as a special education teacher's aide after 20 years of service. She was a previous member of Westside Church of Christ in Pampa, and Olsen Park Church of Christ in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, on Jan. 25, 2000; and two sisters, Lois Patton Folmar and Ivanette Hewitt. Georgia St. Mr. Pitts was a mechanic in Amarillo for more than 25 years. He was a Catholic. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Bankhead and Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. Burial will be in Monday in Viola, Kan., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Harold was born Nov. 21, 1926, in Viola, the sixth child of Martin and Ruth Dobbin Dalbom. He graduated from Clearwater (Kansas) High School and then attended Kansas State College, where he was a member of Farm House fraternity, Blue Key, Collegiate 4-H and numerous other organizations and honoraries. He graduated in 1950 with a B.S. in agricultural science. He loved his college years, and remained a loyal K-Stater. After college graduation, Harold returned to Viola to farm. Here he met his charming wife to be, Dorothy Riegel. Harold and Dorothy married in 1953. After military service in Germany with the U.S. Army, Harold assumed the manager position of the 3400-acre Bar-S Ranch, southeast of Eureka in the Kansas Flint Hills. In 1961 Harold and Dorothy moved to Clovis, N.M., where Harold managed and owned Feed and Ranch Supply and Carr Feed Co. Harold was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Clovis, and participated in his community by serving for many years on the Curry County Fair Board and the Clovis Hospital Board. In 1981, Harold and Dorothy moved to Amarillo, where Harold continued to work in the livestock feeder business. Throughout his career, he was highly regarded by his colleagues and business associates for his sense of humor, generosity and integrity. Harold retired in 2000 from Global Animal Products. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. He served as an elder and as a lay minister in the Stephen's Ministry program. Harold loved being a part of the Presbyterian community and served his Lord faithfully throughout his life. Besides his devotion to his family and church, he was a passionate gardener and plantsman, with a special interest in bearded iris and day lilies. In his later years, he and Dorothy enjoyed exploring Texas and the Midwest, where he paid particular attention to historic buildings, especially courthouses. He delighted in his Swedish heritage and, with the exception of lutefisk, savored the smorgasbord, taking his family to Lindsborg, Kan., every chance he could. He was a friend to all small dogs and polite children. He will be missed by many. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four children, Jann Hunter and husband Rex of Cloudcroft, N.M., Sarah Gray and husband Todd of Albuquerque, N.M., Julia Coates and husband Charles of Atlanta and Darin and wife Kandace of Jenks, Okla.; nine grandchildren, Molly, Allison, Emily, Elizabeth, Miles, Henry, Ingrid, Kolten and Haley; a sister, Lou Yabroff of Campbell, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Ondara was born July 4, 1949, in Laos, was raised there and moved to Amarillo from Laos in 1979. He married Linda Sisomsouk in 1981 in Amarillo. He worked for IBP for seven years, owned and operated a Laotian grocery store in Dumas and worked for Affiliated Foods for one year. He had owned Johnny's Laundry since 1993. Davison was born July 12, 1931, in Cameron. He had been a resident of Amarillo for many years. He was a retired diesel mechanic. Mrs. Hogan was born March 21, 1936, in Celeste and moved to Amarillo in 1942. She worked in food service at the Silver Grill Cafeteria and Furr's Cafeteria. He served in the military, was stationed in Korea, then was transferred to Germany where he met Louise Woeldecke of Dresden, Germany. They married on Dec. 3, 1955. After his military service, Ed and Louise moved to Columbus, Ga., where they operated L&T Grocery. They moved to Amarillo in 1966. Ed worked for Affiliated Foods until he opened his own business. He owned and operated Ed's Handy Shop until his retirement. Louise preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2006. Survivors include dear friends, Larry and Diana Jolly of Amarillo. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Ina J. Vaughn was born March 28, 1931, in Wellington. Ina graduated from Wellington High School in 1948. Shortly after graduation, Ina moved to Amarillo to pursue her career, but she always considered Wellington home. Ina spent most of her career with Diamond Shamrock Oil and Gas. She enjoyed her job working on computer systems and troubleshooting the network mainframe. Ina made many lifelong friendships while working at Diamond Shamrock. Ina had three passions in her life: friends, family and Ray Vaughn. True friends are hard to find, Ina was a true friend. Some friendships lasted a lifetime, others formed from her job and some came later in life. Ina truly loved her friends and loved being a friend. Vacations and travel are common for most families. If there was time off work, Ina wanted to spend it with family. A great vacation for Ina would include time with family, great home-cooked meals and lots of time talking and laughing. It was not the location or the entertainment that was important to her, it was the quality time with loved ones. Ina had a son, Merritt Vaughn. Their relationship was very special. Merritt was her pride and joy. Ina was Merritt's comforter and loyal supporter. Ina loved and cared for people deeply, but there was nobody she loved more than Ray. Ray was Ina's husband for 44 years. Ina was Ray's emotional and spiritual backbone and Ray was Ina's loyal caregiver. The two were inseparable. The sweetness of their loving marriage was evident to everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, on Jan. 31, 2007; and a sister, Fern Jones. Survivors include a son, Merritt and daughter-in-law Pamela of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Brittany, Merritt, Taylor and Audrey; and a sister, Vern Burton of Wellington. Mrs. Porter was born Dec. 2, 1927, in Girard to George Washington Willis and Myrtie Magnolia Simmons Willis. She married James Kenneth Porter on April 20, 1947, in Girard. He died in 1984. She graduated from Girard High School in 1945 and from LVN school in 1973. She was a retired LVN and a member of First Baptist Church in Shamrock. She was also preceded in death by two sisters. Fred Coleman Ferris was born May 21, 1930, in Grandfield, Okla., to Ben and Nora Thomas Ferris. He married Ethel Pearle Coates on June 12, 1954. They had made their home in Shamrock for the past 51 years. Fred worked in the oil field for Rodney Barker for 30 years.
