No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Willie was born Jan. 25, 1943, in Ardmore, Okla., and grew up in Canyon. He enjoyed working with cattle on the ranch, team roping, working with leather and fishing. He never knew a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Helen Ashley; four sons, Doug Criss of Kingfisher, Okla., and Ron McLean Sr., Jack Ashley and Dennis Ashley, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Susie Green of Amarillo and Kathy McLean of Fort Worth; three brothers, Kirk Ashley of Amarillo, Carroll Ashley of Dumas and Johnny Ashley of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two sisters, Quila Vickers of Dumas and Connie McSwain of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Betty was born March 9, 1923, on the family farm, southwest of Altus, Jackson County, Okla., the youngest daughter of pioneer parents James Odus and Esther Palestine Dickson McCormick. She graduated from Porter High School, where she participated in music and drama activities and was valedictorian of her eighth- and 12th-grade classes. She attended Altus Junior College on a scholastic scholarship. She was a member of the college vocal trio and quartet and served as college accompanist. She was awarded full membership in the Alpha Chapter of the Kappa Theta Fraternity for both years, as well as earning letters in music and drama. She transferred to Southwestern Institute of Technology, now known as Southwestern State University, at Weatherford, Okla., where in January 1944, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in education, majoring in public school music with minors in history, social studies and elementary education. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the college instrumental trio, performed in numerous piano recitals, served as pianist for her dormitory and used this talent to entertain the U.S. Air Force Mechanics, who were stationed in Weatherford for training during World War II. She was selected by the college faculty to be listed in the 1944 edition of "Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges." In 1946, she moved to Rush Springs, Okla., and joined the high school faculty there. It was here she met her future husband, Norbert Luis St. Dizier Jr. They were married Aug. 23, 1947, in First United Methodist Church in Altus. After their marriage, they resided in Rush Springs, where she continued to teach and her husband continued his career with the Rock Island Railroad. In 1956, they moved to Amarillo, where they spent the remainder of their lives. In November 1958, Betty began working for Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a part- time employee, later becoming full-time. She worked in various sales positions and in personnel until April 1973, when she retired. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at age 11 and became a member of Methodist Episcopal Church at Porter High, a branch of the church of Elmer, Okla. She was an active member of the church for many years, participating as a member of the choir and at one time a choir director. Upon moving to Amarillo, she transferred her membership to St. Paul Methodist Church. She has been a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church since 1967. In 1978, she became interested in genealogy, and she and her husband became members of the Amarillo Genealogical Society. They were in the first group from the society to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to do research at the Library of the Latter-day Saints. She continued her research until she lost most of her sight. She enjoyed reading, especially political and historical articles and novels. The family would like to thank Glenda Bouker and Wanda Emerson for their support and the staffs of BSA Hospice and Covenant Care Home for the special care given Betty these past months. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 24, 2001; her parents; three sisters, Eunice McCormick, Winnie Kidd and Berthelle Coe; a niece, Mariesta Kidd Obenhaus; and a nephew, Joe Bob Kidd. She was raised in Wheeler. She moved to Amarillo in 1949 from Wheeler. She was a homemaker and a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Mrs. Pate married C.J. "Joe" Pate in 1969 in Amarillo. He died in 2005. Survivors include three sisters, Etna Thompson of Amarillo, Dorothy Powell of Pampa and Ruth Head of Saginaw; and two brothers, Audrey Downs of Amarillo and Glenn Downs of El Paso. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew J. Forrester Jr. Andrew J. Forrester Jr., 85, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 29, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Forrester, the Rev. Perry Forrester of Faith Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Va., and the Rev. Greg Kinch of South Lawn Baptist Church in Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Forrester was born March 11, 1922, in Everman to Andrew and Lilly May Forrester. He married Frances Shaw in Cleburne on Aug. 2, 1942. They moved to Amarillo in 1946. He was the owner and operator of the Police Station Coffee Shop for 26 years. Upon his retirement in 1983, he was the only person in the history of Amarillo to be named an honorary police officer by Chief of Police Jerry Neal. He was a member of South Lawn Baptist Church. He was a devoted Christian, the head of a large loving family, and an active advocate of conservative causes. He enjoyed gardening, writing poetry and composing songs to his beloved wife of 65 years. His dry humor, quick wit and his gift of storytelling will be missed by his family and a great host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Albert O. Forrester in 1992 and James D. Forrester in 2006; a sister, Mildred Forrester; and four brothers, James Lee Forrester, Thomas Earl Forrester, John Forrester and Bob Forrester. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Allen H. Forrester of Cleburne and Don C. Forrester Sr., Perry T. Forrester and Steven J. Mr. Henson was born June 10, 1925, in Hedley to Grady and Cleo Spier Henson and had been a lifetime resident of Donley County. He married Frankie Hommel on Nov. 13, 1944, in Hollis, Okla. He and his family are the owners and operators of Henson's in Clarendon. He was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700, was Past President and member of the Al Morah Shrine Club, the Clarendon Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 6, had served for several years as the Donley County service chairman for the American Cancer Society, had served as the Grand Chaplain of the Grand Chapter of Texas - Order Of the Eastern Star and attended the Baptist and Methodist Churches. She was the utilization review clerk in medical records at Highland General Hospital, retiring after 20 years. Mrs. Stall was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, where she was a past president and was also honored as "Woman of the Year." She was a member of Mary Ellen and Harvester Church of Christ. She was known by her grandchildren as "Bangaw." They resided in Colorado Springs, Colo., Hartley, Lubbock and Canadian and have spent the last 45 years in Canyon. She taught elementary school for 33 years in Petersburg, Frenship, Canadian and Canyon. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Ruth in 1971, and a brother, Joe Brown in 2005. Ruth Neptune was born Jan. 30, 1905, in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up in Emlenton, Pa., and attended Tulsa University in Oklahoma. She married Wilson Harold Gordon in Tulsa in 1928. They lived in Amarillo for 46 years, where Mr. Gordon taught biology at Amarillo High School. She was a pastor's secretary at First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo for many years. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a skilled seamstress and typist. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include two children, John Lynn Gordon of Rochester and Ruth Alice Gordon Cooke of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services were Tuesday in Briggs-Gamel Funeral Home in Lampasas. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery by Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home and Crematory. Grace was born Oct. 31, 1932, in San Antonio, the daughter of the late G.G. "Jerry" and Katharine Harwell. A graduate of Amarillo High School and Oklahoma University, she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She served as a docent at the Kimbell Art Museum and was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Grace did volunteer work at a hospice house in Amarillo. She was an avid reader and member of the Amarillo Library Book Club as well as Thursday Bible Study. She enjoyed gardening and listening to music. Her family held a special place in her heart. Survivors include her children, Jeff Hinson and wife Gennifer, Paul Hinson and Loydale Hinson Schmid; four grandchildren, Russell and Rachel Hinson and Kassie and Connor Schmid; a sister, Kay Westerfield; and nieces and nephews. Stewart, 76, died recently. Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery in Orange Park. Mr. Stewart served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, retiring after 21 years of decorated service serving in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War.
