Johnson McLEAN - Shelby D. Johnson, 87, died Sunday, April 1, 2007. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mobeetie Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Johnson, cousin, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Johnson was born April 21, 1919, in Gageby. He married Bonnie Faye Childress on Oct. 11, 1939. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Matthews of Dawn; three sons, Gerald Johnson of McLean, Frank Johnson of Bellevue and Jack Johnson of Wellington; three sisters, Mary Luther of Amarillo, Juanita Martin of Arizona and Georgie Jarrett of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Archie Johnson of Houston; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gilbert Eugene "Gene" Williams BORGER - Gilbert Eugene "Gene" Williams, 85, died Friday, March 30, 2007, in Ridgeland, Miss. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bunavista Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Hensley, pastor, and the Rev. Philip Hilton of First Baptist Church in Sunray officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Williams went to be with the Lord Friday, March 30, 2007, in Ridgeland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a Sunday school superintendent at Bunavista Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Ron Williams of Durango, Colo., and Terry Williams of Ridgeland; a daughter, Sandi Wells of Ridgeland; a brother, Don Williams of Borger; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Brace, pastor of Assembly of God in Texoma, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Long was born Feb. 13, 1904, in Dublin to L.H. and Rena Jane Howell. She had lived most of her life in Hedley before moving to Stratford eight years ago. She married Cecil Leroy Harris on Nov. 6, 1920, in Hedley. Upon the death of Mr. Harris in 1960, Louise married Johnny Long in December 1962 in Hedley. She had worked for the Clarendon and Memphis hospitals as an LVN prior to her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hedley, where she worked with the teenagers and taught Sunday school. She loved singing hymns and would often lead the singing at the nursing home. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents; both her husbands, Cecil Leroy Harris in 1960 and Johnny Long in 1972; eight brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Annita DeBord of Stratford, Cecilia DeBord of Amarillo and Ruby Comen of Borger; 12 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Burial will be Thursday in Viola Cemetery in La Barge, Wyo. Herman Angelo Genetti, 84, was born May 29, 1922, in Kemmerer, Wyo., and passed away on March 31, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Genetti moved to Amarillo in 1992 after retiring from the fence post business, in which he supplied posts for many ranchers, Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. Everyone loved to hear his stories about old time. Many times, he was told that he should write a book, so after he moved to Amarillo, he wrote two books. His whole life was spent working and helping others. He never asked anyone to do anything he wouldn't do himself, and many didn't stand the test. He was preceded in death by a son Roger; a little brother, Bobby; and brother Joe Genetti. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Imogene; a son, George Genetti and wife Brenda of Sebastopol, Calif.; two granddaughters; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Elizabeth Simpson of Medford, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Healthcare, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106. Visitation will be this afternoon, with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Betty Errol McCormick St. Dizier Betty Errol McCormick St. Dizier, 84, of Amarillo died Friday, March 30, 2007. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Betty was born March 9, 1923, on the family farm, southwest of Altus, Jackson County, Okla., the youngest daughter of pioneer parents James Odus and Esther Palestine Dickson McCormick. She graduated from Porter High School, where she participated in music and drama activities and was valedictorian of her eighth- and 12th-grade classes. She attended Altus Junior College on a scholastic scholarship. She was a member of the college vocal trio and quartet and served as college accompanist. She was awarded full membership in the Alpha Chapter of the Kappa Theta Fraternity for both years, as well as earning letters in music and drama. She transferred to Southwestern Institute of Technology, now known as Southwestern State University, at Weatherford, Okla., where in January 1944, she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in education, majoring in public school music with minors in history, social studies and elementary education. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the college instrumental trio, performed in numerous piano recitals, served as pianist for her dormitory and used this talent to entertain the U.S. Air Force Mechanics, who were stationed in Weatherford for training during World War II. She was selected by the college faculty to be listed in the 1944 edition of "Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges." In 1946, she moved to Rush Springs, Okla., and joined the high school faculty there. It was here she met her future husband, Norbert Luis St. Dizier Jr. They were married Aug. 23, 1947, in First United Methodist Church in Altus. After their marriage, they resided in Rush Springs, where she continued to teach and her husband continued his career with the Rock Island Railroad. In 1956, they moved to Amarillo, where they spent the remainder of their lives. In November 1958, Betty began working for Sears, Roebuck and Co. as a part- time employee, later becoming full-time. She worked in various sales positions and in personnel until April 1973, when she retired. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour at age 11 and became a member of Methodist Episcopal Church at Porter High, a branch of the church of Elmer, Okla. She was an active member of the church for many years, participating as a member of the choir and at one time a choir director. Upon moving to Amarillo, she transferred her membership to St. Paul Methodist Church. She has been a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church since 1967. In 1978, she became interested in genealogy, and she and her husband became members of the Amarillo Genealogical Society. They were in the first group from the society to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to do research at the Library of the Latter-day Saints. She continued her research until she lost most of her sight. She enjoyed reading, especially political and historical articles and novels. The family would like to thank Glenda Bouker and Wanda Emerson for their support and the staffs of BSA Hospice and Covenant Care Home for the special care given Betty these past months. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 24, 2001; her parents; three sisters, Eunice McCormick, Winnie Kidd and Berthelle Coe; a niece, Mariesta Kidd Obenhaus; and a nephew, Joe Bob Kidd.
