No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 4, 1922. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Clark; and a son, Dale Clark. Survivors include a son, Thom Clark of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and numerous friends at Winwood Village. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Martha Jaunice "Nanaw" Dunn Martha Jaunice "Nanaw" Dunn, 79, of Amarillo died Monday, April 2, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Roy Wheeler of Hillside Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Dunn, a lifelong resident of Amarillo, was born Dec. 28, 1927, to Porter and Florence Reese. She had been a longtime member of Paramount Baptist Church. Jaunice married Ray Hillard Dunn on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death after 48 wonderful years of marriage. Jaunice was a strong-willed, kind devoted woman, who wanted nothing more in life than her family's happiness and well-being. She treasured every moment life gave her, and will be dearly missed in the hearts of the many lives she touched. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Jackson; two granddaughters, Jennifer Jackson and Gaylee Vigil; and two brothers, Aubry Reese and Gordon Reese. Theresa was born March 13, 1956, in Amarillo, was raised here and has been a resident here her entire life. She had worked for Palo Duro Canyon and later St. Anthony's Hospital as a registered nurse. Theresa was a member of River Road Fellowship Church, and was active with the prayer chain and card ministry. One of her great passions in life was animals. She considered them to be part of her family. Theresa enjoyed arts and crafts, fishing, and being outdoors. Her unfailing faith and sense of humor is what made her who she was. She placed her trust in God, and is now "dancing a waltz with Jesus." Georgia St. Mr. Freeman was born Sept. 6, 1912, in Oney to David Henry and Melizona Freeman. He married Jessie "Jelly" Chamberland on Dec. 12, 1936. Mr. Freeman worked as a plaster contractor in Amarillo for more than 40 years. He enjoyed football, the horse races and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1980. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; and two brothers, Russell Frazier and Dick Frazier. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Kress First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Fuller officiating and the Rev. Dan Reynolds assisting. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mrs. Whitmire was born Aug. 26, 1911, in Chico to Flora and H.L. Hartsell. Opal graduated as valedictorian of Chico High School and was a graduate of North Texas State in Denton. She taught school at Center in Floyd County, Petersburg, Circle Back, Fieldton, Bula and Kress. She taught for 32 years, 20 of them at Kress. She was presented a plaque from Public Schools of Texas for 32 years of service in 1974. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She loved teaching and watching her students learn. She got a great deal of pleasure from watching her students become productive citizens and was proud of their accomplishments. Opal married A.C. "Clif" Whitmire on Aug. 15, 1940, in Sweetwater. He passed away March 18, 1994. Opal and Clif moved to Kress in 1948. On March 7, 1948, they joined First Baptist Church, where Opal was a Sunday school teacher for the Young Married Women, served as church secretary, Bible School teacher, member of WMU, hostess committee and librarian for the church. She read the Bible first thing every morning and ended the day with a prayer for loved ones. On Oct. 6, 1958, the boys and girls 4-H clubs in Kress were combined together forming the Kress Community 4-H Club. Opal was a 4-H leader for the girls teaching them sewing, cooking, canning and freezing. She was a member of the Kress Keen-Agers Club, serving as secretary. She was chosen as Outstanding Woman of the Year twice. Opal was Swisher County Senior Citizens Spelling Bee Champion and was Texas Panhandle Regional Spelling Bee Champion in 1991. During the competition several of Opal's ex-students called to encourage her on to winning. Mrs. Whitmire was a member of RSVP of Swisher County where she served on the advisory board. She was nominated Outstanding RSVP Volunteer for 1991-1992. She was a member of the Kress Crochet Club. She always needed to keep her hands busy and created beautiful handmade items and enjoyed making beautiful quilts. Opal was a volunteer reading teacher for Kress Public Schools from 1998 to 2001. She loved children and spent many hours teaching them to read and inspiring them to enjoy reading. Opal was a volunteer proof reader for the Tulia Sentinel from 1999 to 2000. She loved people and much of her time was spent visiting friends in area nursing homes and the shut-ins around Kress. She was always carrying food to funerals, friends and meetings. Believing it is important to keep your mind busy and active much of her time was spent working, reading, crossword puzzles, etc. Opal was awarded the Pioneer Award at Hi-Neighbor Days celebration in Kress in 2006. In 2007 Mrs. Whitmire moved to Tulia, where she attended First Baptist Church and Tulia Senior Citizens. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Amy Fisher; and a brother, Claude Hartsell. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Clifteen and Jody White of Tulia; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Ann Whitmire of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Hartsell of Duncan, Okla.; a sister, Joyce Taylor of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Hartsell of Ardmore, Okla.; and a brother-in-law, J.L. Mayme Lou Fuller Denley was born July 31, 1909. She passed away April 1, 2007, at the age of 97. Her parents were T.C. Fuller and Mary "Molly" Sue Perritte Fuller. Mayme was the youngest of eight children. She lived all her life in Wellington, having graduated from Wellington High School and then attending Texas Tech University. On July 21, 1934, she married Bryan Homer Denley. He preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 1965. She taught at Prairie View, Cross Roads and Wellington schools. In later years she taught in the Floydada School System, retiring from there. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wellington. She loved to work with the nursery there. She was a life member of United Methodist Women and a member of the Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron in 1957. She belonged to Belles Letters Study Club, was an avid bridge player and excellent seamstress and she loved to crochet. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; three sisters; and a daughter, Barbara Denley Settle. Survivors include a daughter, Molly Cameron of Amarillo; five grandchilren, Bryan Cameron and wife Amy of Fort Worth, Darrin Cameron and wife Diane and Kristy Voyles and husband Tony, all of Amarillo, Jonny Hawkins and husband Mark of Fort Cobb, Okla., and Shannon Settle of Amarillo; 13 great- grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He graduated from high school in Nazareth and also graduated from Texas State Technical Institute. He married Melissa Kleman on Nov. 30, 1985, in Tulia. They lived in Tucumcari for a year and moved to Clovis in 1987. He had been a Snap-On dealer for 21 years. He loved to bowl and coached his son in bowling. He coached girls, including his daughter, in basketball and softball. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved life and was a wonderful husband, dad and son.
