Hughes St. Jerris "Bobby" Ashley was born July 1, 1934, in Ringgold, La., to J.W. and Elzena Ashley. Bobby moved to Amarillo in 1955 and worked in the Amarillo National Bank restaurant for more than 10 years. He then worked for Lydick Roofing Co., from which he retired. Mr. Freeman worked as a plaster contractor in Amarillo for more than 40 years. He enjoyed football, the horse races and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1980; four brothers; three sisters; and a great-great-granddaughter. He married Jeannette Clift on Oct. 29, 1954, in Tucumcari, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Palo Duro Lodge No. 1239, Amarillo Lodge No. 731, Claude Lodge No. 719 and a life member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; and a son, Larry Don Lermon. Mark was born Nov. 15, 1963, in Memphis, grew up in Clarendon and graduated from Clarendon High School in 1982. He attended Clarendon College for two years. He moved to Amarillo in 1984, where he made his home. He worked at Progress Rail & Sage as a welder before joining Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a car man in 2004. Mark met his soulmate in 1996 and married her in 1999. Together they shared a special life and love that few will ever know. Mark had a love for life and an infectious laugh that touched everyone he knew. Mark loved to rodeo and ride his Harley. Mark never met a stranger and was a true Samaritan to all, to the point of letting his personal needs take a back seat. To friends and family, Mark was a prankster, a true friend, the life of the party - one in a million. Georgia St. Mrs. Webb was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Lockney to George Edward and Hattie Cox Roberson. She moved to Plainview in 1931. She was baptized into the Church of Christ on May 28, 1932, at Prairie Chapel by Leland H. Knight, minister. She moved to Borger in 1940 and to Amarillo in 1943. She married Lester Webb on June 6, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. In Plainview, she worked in the office of the Home Demonstration Agent and later at J.C. Penney Co. In Borger she worked at Moses Variety Store, and in Amarillo at Western Auto, Southwestern Drug and at Highland Park School for 20 years as secretary to the principal. She retired May 31, 1979. She was preceded in death by her father in 1951; her mother in 1974; her husband in 1984; a son, Robert Marvin Crues, in 1943; a stepson, Donnie Webb, in 1999; four sisters; and four brothers. Sparks on her 16th birthday. Mrs. Sparks took up art in 1957. She then moved to Amarillo in 1998 where she lived until her death. She was a loving and caring person and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. M.D. was born in Lipscomb and grew up in the Texas Panhandle. As a young man he served honorably as a yeoman in the U.S. Navy, a Seabee (construction battalion), during World War II. After the war he continued his business career as a loan and insurance agent in the lower Rio Grande Valley city of San Benito. There he served his chosen community in many ways. He was a volunteer firefighter for 13 years and chairman of the San Benito Housing Authority for 17 years. He was a commissioner for the Boy Scouts for four years, chairman of the San Benito Planning and Zoning Board serving 14 years and treasurer of the San Benito Chamber of Commerce for two years. Deam was the San Benito Lions Club president for two terms and drive chairman for the Salvation Army for three years. He was also the father of four children and involved in supporting many activities such as band, science projects and coaching Little League teams. M.D. had his own hobbies as well, the favorite being the study and collection of Native American artifacts. He was able to more fully pursue this pastime after settling in Junction upon retirement in 1979, and thrived on the camaraderie of fellow enthusiasts and in sharing his knowledge. In his typical generous spirit, he has allowed the Museum of the Plains in Perryton to exhibit his collection so that the public can also enjoy it. We will miss his wit and gentle manner. The family deeply appreciates the many friendships and acts of kindness given to our father, especially in his later years. Thank you. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris Eloise Montgomery Turner. She and William had been married for 62 years and had lived in Austin since 2001. She was a Methodist and had worked for several years as a bookkeeper in the Panhandle area of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Eugene and Jerry; a son, Dennis; and her husband, William.
