Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in The Church at Quail Creek with her sons, Michael and Paul Pinkston, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2800 Paramount Blvd. By every account, Noell Hopkins was unmatched in her ability to love and care for family, friends and anyone who passed through the doors at The Church at Quail Creek, formerly San Jacinto Baptist Church, where she served on staff the last 20 years. Those who knew her saw the incredible battle she waged against a debilitating disease. She was an inspiration to those who watched her face incredible pain with pure grace - always choosing to encourage and pray for others rather than focus on herself. She was refined by adversity and became a real-world example of the verse in Philippians that promises that God, who began a good work in her, has been faithful to complete it - beginning here on earth and certainly completed Tuesday when she met her Savior. Noell met her soulmate, Chester Hopkins, in 1979 and married him in 1983. Together they shared a special life and love, and were the centerpiece of their entire family. Chester took care of Noell in a way that has inspired their sons as husbands and fathers. Noell was born Oct. 18, 1937, to Francis and Thelma Aid in St. Louis, grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955. Her life was focused on her faith, her husband, Chester, and her three sons and their families. Her oldest son, Michael Pinkston, is executive pastor at The Church at Quail Creek. Middle son, Paul Pinkston, is pastor at The People's Church in Amarillo. Youngest son, Christian Pinkston, owns a public relations firm in Washington, D.C. Survivors include her husband, Chester Hopkins; three sons, Michael Pinkston and wife Kathi and Paul Pinkston and wife Karen, all of Amarillo, and Christian Pinkston and wife Erica of Washington, D.C.
