Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Rick Bartlett, grandson and pastor of New Braunfels Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Catherine was born Aug. 29, 1912, in Victoria. She married "Pinky" McCollum in 1933 in Amarillo, where they owned and operated McCollum Food Stores from 1944 until 1960. They moved to Truth or Consequences, N.M., where they owned the Black Range Motel and Gift Shop, and upon retirement in 1976, returned to Amarillo. Catherine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pinky, and for the last several years had made her home with her daughter, Nancy, in New Braunfels. Her joy for life, sense of humor and loving and gentle manner affected everyone who met her, and she will be greatly missed by her family. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Bartlett of New Braunfels, Karen Dawson of Lubbock and Helen Perlick of Henderson, Nev.; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donald Boyd Donald Boyd, 79, of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 4, 2007. Mr. Boyd was born June 21, 1927, in Tiban, N.M., to Robert and Lilly Boyd. He served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. He married Mary Boyd on Oct. 18, 1950. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Bob Jr., Roy and Ben Boyd; and a sister, Zelma Self. Mr. Garre was born May 12, 1947, in Amarillo, was raised here and was a graduate of Tascosa High School. He passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Marines, as well as the U.S. Navy. He was residing in Corpus Christi at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. P.R. "Dick" Garre; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Garre and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Edwards. Miracle Jr. Amos H. Miracle Jr., 89, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 3, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with David Miracle, grandson and pastor of Northridge Park Baptist Church in San Antonio, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Amos Harrison Miracle Jr. was born March 3, 1918, in Kusa, Okla., to Edna Edwards and Amos Harrison Miracle Sr. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1935. Amos was drafted into World War II in 1941 at age 23. He started at El Paso for induction, was then sent to Camp Walders in Mineral Wells, and after four months was shipped to Fort Bragg, N.C., A Company, 9th Division 60th Infantry amphibious forces. Mr. Miracle was shipped to Morocco, Africa, in 1942. He was wounded Aug. 7, 1942, in Sicily, Italy, on top of Mount Aetna, and was hospitalized in Africa for 18 months. Mr. Miracle was honorably discharged on Nov. 6, 1944, and was decorated with two Purple Hearts for wounds he received in Sicily. On Dec. 22, 1943, Mr. Miracle married Mary Jo Walker. In 1950, Mr. Miracle went to work for Amarillo Packing Co., where in 1962, he was promoted to vice president under Mr. Emit J. Husband. Mr. Miracle retired in 1986 after 36 years with Amarillo Packing Co. Mr. Miracle attended San Jacinto Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school, was a deacon and was chairman of the deacon board. He later attended Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, William Travis "Bill" Miracle; and a sister, Beulah Mae White. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Miracle Williams and husband Bill of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Mike Miracle and wife Sammie of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, David Miracle, Jon Miracle, Matt Miracle, Mark Miracle, Mandy Miracle, Garrett Williams, Chad Marchbanks, Cherie Gonzales and Sarah Scott; and 11 great-grandchildren. He had been a longtime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Smith graduated from South East High School in Wichita, where he was an All-American running back in 1977. He attended and played football for West Texas State University. He was a very proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and Markwell Masonic Lodge No. 415. He married LaWanda Douglas Smith on Aug. 12, 1994. Mr. Smith was employed with IBP for 15 years and Owens Corning for the last 12 years of his life. He loved life and was a wonderful husband, dad, son and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Gwendolyn West, Floyd John Smith and Aliene Oliver. Gene, as he was known, was a pipeline welder for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Wheatheart Shrine Club, where was president for three years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Gene was a hard worker and he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Gary Don Humphreys, in 1991. Jones was born May 16, 1917, in Lamar County, the fourth of 10 children born to George Albert and Charlotte McAfee. She attended Paris, Texas, public schools. Her late husband, Charles Jones, preceded her in death after 35 years of marriage. She was baptized at Bell Avenue Church of Christ and later became a member of North Heights Church of Christ. Because of health problems she moved to Dallas to live with her daughter.
