Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. with Loran Harper of Comanche Trail Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Southerland was born June 21, 1919, in Madill, Okla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Mary Ruth Holbert on Dec. 12, 1942, in Memphis. She preceded him in death in 1998. He worked for Amarillo College in the maintenance department for more than 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed repairing clocks and watches. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Nussbaum of Moronga Valley, Calif., Ruby Bridges of Sherman and Peggy Mathes of Amarillo; a sister, Mabel Guest of Quanah; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thorn was born Dec. 20, 1958, in Las Vegas, N.M. She moved to Amarillo in 1998 from Clayton. She worked in the accounting department at Amarillo Nursing Center and was a homemaker. She was very active with the NUFF Organization at First Presbyterian Church. Karilyn married Jerry Levitt on Sept. 15, 1962, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband; her father, Howard Stewart; a brother, Wesley Stewart; and a grandson, Wesley Scott Levitt. Frenchie married Virginia, the love of his life, on Dec. 22, 1956, in Tucumcari N.M. Of that union came 51 years of love, laughs and triumph. Frenchie was a simple man who loved his family and enjoyed their company. He was a radioman 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy, and was an insurance adjuster for 30 years before retiring in 1997. His generosity and kindness will be missed by the many lives he touched. Mr. Robison was born Sept. 16, 1915 in Gate, Okla., and served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He served with the 85th division of the 310 Engineer Battalion and was discharged as a sargent. He married Mae Dover on April 19, 1941, in Clayton, N.M. She passed away in December 2006. He was a cowboy and broke horses for the Matador Ranch. He moved to Amarillo from Dumas in 1955. He worked at the zinc smelter and was a barber in Amarillo for many years. Syb enjoyed his family, rodeos and growing roses. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Beltran was born Oct. 25, 1953, in Levelland, the son of Juan and Aurora Beltran. He married Peggy Soto on Feb. 23, 1970, in Odessa and moved to Hereford. Johnny worked for Whiteface Ford in Hereford for more than 10 years in the sales department. He also had been the manager of Champion Feeders in Hereford for many years and a member of the Hereford Lions Club. Johnny never met a stranger, loved his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed. On his 27th birthday, he surrendered to preach. He was a graduate of Wayland Baptist University, where he served on the board of trustees and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. The Rev. Gillispie served as pastor in Woody, Hancock, Afton, Greenwood, South Plains, Seminole, Crowell, Groom, Knox City and Benjamin. He was the camp director at Pan Fork Baptist Camp in Wellington and served as a veterans service officer for 12? years. Jeffie Johnson was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Quanah to Julius and Mary Mollie Seitz. She.married Arvil Johnson on Aug. 15, 1937, in Wheeler, and he preceded her in death in 1983. Arvil "Fat Boy" and Jeffie moved to Dumas from Canadian in 1961 and opened Johnson Western Wear and Boot Shop. After school was out each summer, the older grandchildren would come to Dumas and work at the shop and helped with 4-H. They loved having the family with them. Jeffie continued operating the shop until 1997. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had been a member of Bible Baptist Church since 1982, and loved working in her yard. She was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Bobby Johnson, in 1974 and Gary Kent in 1984; two sons-in-law, Lee Roy Kent and Bobby Miller, both in 1995; and ten brothers and sisters.
