Anthony "Buck," 79, of Amarillo died Sunday, April 22, 2007. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in North Amarillo Church of Christ with Glen Walton, minister, and Dalton Key, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park East Mausoleum by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Anthony was born May 17, 1927, in Hall County to William Arthur Anthony and Sadie Rachel Chaney Anthony. He worked as a service representative for Case International. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Anthony was a deacon at North Amarillo Church of Christ. He married Doris MeLear on Aug. 16, 1947, in Memphis. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Alton Anthony, in 1989. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ricky Anthony and wife Lynn, Jackey Anthony and wife Kelly, Teddy Anthony and wife Janet and Perry Joe Anthony, all of Amarillo; a sister, Odell Thompson of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Asher was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Campbell, Mo., and was raised in the Athens-Mertchison area. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He married Margie DeLong in 1943 in Albuquerque, N.M. She passed away in 1991. He married Elma Jo Landers in 1994. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1960. He drove a bus for Greyhound Bus Co. for 37 years before his retirement. He moved to Houston in 1994 and then to LaPorte. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lance Asher, in 1997; five sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Elma Asher; three daughters, Lora J. He was a devoted family man who was active in St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He participated in the Stars Choir, Emmaus and Pathfinders Sunday school class, and he enjoyed bluegrass gospel music. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Judy Porsch; three daughters, Pam Stancil, Tammy Trammell and husband Ricky and Kenna Borum and husband William; two sons, Terry and Tommy Porsch; two brothers, Alvin and Larry Porsch; two sisters, Sylvia Schuttpelz and Katherine Johnson; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Comanche Trail Church of Christ. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Longtime Amarillo resident Jim Judge went home to be with Jesus on April 24, 2007. James Sherman Judge was born July 7, 1920, to John Fletcher Judge and Alma Idella Harrington Judge in Thurber. He was the fifth of the couple's six children. His father was a carpenter who followed the Texas oil boom from town to town. He graduated from Blanco High School and attended Abilene Christian College before working at Kelly Field in San Antonio. He married Verva Zoe Klingman on Nov. 28, 1941, in San Antonio. Three children were born to the marriage, John William Judge, James Sherman Judge Jr. and Jandella Sue Judge. Near the end of World War II, Jim and Zoe moved to Oregon where they worked establishing congregations of the Church of Christ. In 1946 they returned to Texas and settled in Amarillo where Jim began business operating a commercial building maintenance service. He worked for many years as a manager for the Gunn family properties, where he became well known to many downtown Amarillo parking lot customers. With the coming of suburban shopping centers and the end of downtown retail trade, he earned his securities license and worked with Church Loans Investment Trust until his retirement. He was a steadfast and avid supporter of Amarillo Christian School, where his wife, Zoe, worked as the first faculty member, and pioneered the Montessori method of early childhood education in the Texas Panhandle. He was a member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; a son, James Jr.; and a daughter-in-law, Margene Davis Judge. Survivors include a brother, Milton Judge and wife Martha of San Antonio; a son, John Judge and wife Becky of Dripping Springs; a daughter, Jan Durham and husband Shane of Amarillo; six grandchildren, James Kevin, Robert Steven and Aimee-Ann Judge, Jason William, Tiffany Ann and Timothy James Houchins and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews of the Judge, Sharp and Klingman families. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a gunner on the battleship West Virginia and participated in every major naval battle in the Pacific. He lived in Amarillo for more than 60 years and owned R.T. Sims Lumber Co. on Polk Street. Mr. Sims, Dan Boston and Franklin Jeffers started Ready Built Homes, building most of the Oakdale and Lawndale area. That same partnership started First Equity Realtors. He served on the Zoning Board and Osteopathic Hospital board for many years. He was a longtime member of ACC and TCC. He was also a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and The Home Builders Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Sims; a daughter, Pam Williams of Kingwood; and a sister, Winifred Rhodes of Palestine, Texas. He married Pamela Cleaver on June 16, 1985, in Amarillo. He loved his family more than anything in the world and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Prentis Slagle. Mr. Sprouse was born Dec. 16, 1941, in Amarillo to Ollie T. and Vera L. Sprouse. He drove a truck and did sanitation pick up during the 1960s for numerous businesses. He worked for Amarillo By-Products in 1975 until their closing and then worked for Merrit Foods until he retired due to illness. Marvin and his wife of 31 years, Karen, devoted their lives to serving others and both volunteered for Catholic Family Service for many years until he was no longer able. Marvin loved to collect miniature antique trucks and cars. Survivors include two brothers, Jim Sprouse and Robert Sprouse, both of Mansfield; two sisters, Lois Beckwith and Carrli Aarogon of Amarillo; and four children that he and Karen raised as their own. Life is filled with many new and often unexpected journeys. When we find someone who brings joy, love and pleasure to us on the journey, we experience the transcendence and incarnation of God. Jeannie revealed the unconditional love of God to so many. She was a most loving and caring mother to her dear children. She was a self-giving companion in life. Jeannie was a precious daughter, a trusted sister and a doting aunt. She prided herself on being a mother and a homemaker in life. She embarked with courage and strength on a new journey later in life as a student working on a bachelor of science in nursing at West Texas A&M. Her passions in life included her children, loving others' children as her own and expressing her love and care through her joy of cooking. If a life well-lived is measured by the love and affection of those with whom life's journey crosses, then Jeannie truly had a wonderful life.
