Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Reed, pastor, and the Rev. Jesse Hodges, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. Mr. Ellis was born Oct. 7, 1944, in Tulia, where he grew up and graduated from Tulia High School in 1963. He started Swisher Tire in 1968 and bought Young & Ellis in 1976. He married Joy Boone on Sept. 5, 1969, in Tulia. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Tulia Jaycees. He was a member of the Tulia High School Booster Club, was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year, was a Small Business of Texas award winner and THS Booster of the Year. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Hazel Ellis; a sister, LaJuan Stallings; his in-laws, Fred and Mary Boone; and a brother-in-law, Tom Boone. Mr. Sherrill moved to Guymon from Liberal, Kan., in 1970, and was a member of Guymon Church of Christ. He was employed with Duke Energy as a welder, retiring in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Betty Sherrill; two sons, Alan Sherrill of Tyrone and Steve Sherrill of Tatum, Texas; two daughters, Karri Behne of Guymon and Jana Larson of Dallas; and seven grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mattie L. Johnson was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Henderson County. She attended school in Moore Station outside of Dallas. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo and a member of Emmanuel Church in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Netha N. Johnson of Dallas; three daughters, Anna J. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Diane was born Sept. 4, 1956, in Gadsden, Ala., and spent most of her early years there. She later moved to Anaheim, Calif., and also resided in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to Amarillo in 2003. Diane was a member of MORE Church, and was the leader of the church's dance team. Her passion was to worship her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all that she did. She was the ultimate woman of faith, a prayer warrior and encouraged others even in her illness. Her strong heart and unwavering faith was a blessing to all that she knew. One of the many gifts she had was the ability to write music. Diane touched the hearts of many, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jenkins-Garmon. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Mr. Perdue was born March 15, 1925, in Lefors to Thomas Elmore and Willie Pierce Perdue. He married Neta Baten on May 19, 1948, in Clarendon. They had lived in Amarillo in the same house ever since. He had worked at Asarco until he retired as a material handler. He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie Pierce Perdue; his father, Thomas Elmore Perdue; a brother, James Thomas Perdue; and a sister, Sallie Lois Perdue. Marquis?? Ruby E. Marquis, 80, of Lewisville, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday April 24, 2007. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum by Cox LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Ruby was born in Washington County near Burton, and was raised on the farm in Beeville. She graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1943 and soon after graduated from Durham Business College. She was an Amarillo resident since 1961 and enjoyed reading, cooking, playing bridge, sewing and being in the Daughters of the Nile Patrol. Ruby was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and was active in the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. In October 2006, she moved with her daughter, Paula Kay, and son-in-law Kenneth Berg, to Lewisville, Texas. Ruby was loved greatly by many, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Ann Marquis, in 1953; her husband, Paul A. Marquis, in 2003; and a son, Phillip Wayne Marquis, in 2006. Survivors include a daughter, Paula K. Ms. Sandefer was born July 19, 1956, to Loren and Donna Packard in Wichita, Kan. She attended Believer's Way Church. One of her greatest loves, other than her family, was her grandson. Her truly greatest love was for Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with Jerry Coffman, pastor of adults at Citychurch, and Don Woolsey officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Staley was born April 16, 1931, in Garden City, Kan., to Byrl and Lillian Staley. He moved to Amarillo in 1969 from Garden City. He worked in the accounts payable department at Mesa Petroleum for 16 years, retiring in 1985. He also co-owned and operated Mom's Cinnamon Rolls in Amarillo and Lubbock for three years. Mr. Staley was a devout Christian. He loved volunteering at Citychurch, where he was a member. Duane made no secret about his love for the Lord. He loved telling others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A neighbor said Duane lived by the scripture found in Galatians 5:14, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." He was a man of true faith and generosity. He was very generous with his time and love. His example will live on through his family and everyone who knew him. Mr. Staley married the love of his life, Anna Mae Stillwell, on June 10, 1949, in Garden City. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2006. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Marie Spangler of Windsor, Colo., Kendra Lynn Reeves and husband Mike and Susan Lynette Woolsey and husband Don, all of Amarillo; a sister, Betty McCully of Marion, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
