Byrd, 83, of Amarillo died May 3, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. today May 7, 2007 in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. A native of Logan, N.M., Mr. Byrd served his Country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist mate 3rd class aboard B-24 aircraft with frequent missions in Europe and N. Africa. He served the city of Amarillo as a firefighter from 1949 to 1952. Survivors include his wife, Janice A Byrd; two sons Ralph Byrd, and Ben Byrd; two daughters, Delila York and Sarah Ward; a brother, William H. Byrd; a sister, Ida Angelo; two step-sons; Todd Barker and Casey Barker, four step- daughters; Tara Pearson, Carmel Barnhill, Camille Phillips, Patience Underwood; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mr. O'Quinn was born Oct. 28, 1952, in Amarillo to Howard and Helen M. Barkas O'Quinn. He was an easygoing and hard-working fellow who loved the guitar and was a NASCAR fan. Mrs. Hardy was born in Borger and raised in Amarillo. She graduated from Tascosa High School and attended Amarillo College. She married Carl Hardy Jr. on May 17, 1997, in Clarendon. Debby was a homemaker and worked at Lone Star Chrysler Plymouth in Amarillo for many years. She was a member of The Church at Quail Creek. She loved arts & crafts and children. She was special to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Trent Snavely. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford with the Rev. Rodney Ray Roberson, chaplain of Conway Human Development Center, Conway, Ark., officiating. Mr. Lowe was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Dalhart to Bill and Madge Lowe who resided at that time in Gruver. In 1946, he moved to Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1953. After graduation, he joined the Army and served two years in Germany. Returning to Stratford, he was employed by Consumer's Supermarket and drove a school bus for the Stratford School District. On Aug. 3, 1969, he married Luzelle Roberson in Stratford and acquired five children. He was a loving and caring husband and father until his death. He always had a smile and was loved by everyone who touched his life. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Glendon Lowe. Survivors include his wife, Luzelle; two sons, Gary Roberson and wife Peggy of Sapulpa, Okla. and the Rev. Rodney Ray Roberson and wife Stacee of Conway; three daughters, Kaye Gunkel and husband Dennis, Gaye McKinney and Melody French and husband Gary, all of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or First Baptist Church of Wellington. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nannie Lou "Nan" Lawrence Henard WELLINGTON - Nannie Lou "Nan" Lawrence Henard, 93, died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Henard was born Aug. 31, 1913, youngest of three daughters, to Mattie Easley and Jefferson Zachariah "Joe" Lawrence in Dallas County. Mrs. Henard's family were some of the first to settle in what is now Dallas and Mesquite, moving from Maryland to the Republic of Texas in 1842. She was the last descendent of the family whose Dallas County property was originally a part of the old Cameron Land Grant. She attended Mesquite elementary and secondary schools, and graduated from Baylor University in 1937. After her graduation from Baylor she boarded a train to Wellington, where she began teaching first grade the day after she arrived. Mrs. Henard met and married Dan Morgan Henard Sr. on Aug. 27, 1939, in Midlothian. Mr. Henard was a rancher and farmer whose family settled in Collingsworth County in the late 1890s. She taught elementary grades in the Samnorwood and Wellington schools in Collingsworth County, retiring in 1979. Dan Sr. passed away in 1969. Mrs. Henard was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Wellington for 70 years. She taught Sunday school, was a member of the Lydia Circle of the United Methodist Women and played an active part in many other church ministries. She was also active in a number of community organizations, including Cub Scouts, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She loved to work in her yard and garden, and she loved to travel. When her sons were growing up, she took them on a number of trips to Europe and across the United States. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nan Lawrence in 1943; and two sisters, Wilma Carrington of Commerce and Mary Lawrence of Sunnyvale. Survivors include four sons, Dan Jr. and Shirley, Larry and Nancy and Andy and Deltah, all of Wellington, and Joe John and Kay of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren, Rex Henard and wife Amy, Tessa Henard, Christy Kane and husband Chad and Colby Henard, all of Wellington, Beki Mitchell and husband Trent of Bixby, Okla., Evan Henard and wife Carrie of Amarillo, Nikay Smith of Denver, Amy Henard of Weatherford, Okla., Jill Varner and husband 2nd Lt. Mr. Ward was born July 25, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He served in the U. S. Air Force immediately following the Vietnam War. Mr. Jacobs was born Jan. 3, 1919, near Elmwood, Okla. He married Alteena Harvey in 1955, in Woodward, Okla. She died in 1992. He married Helen Spalding in 1995 in Pampa. He was a 1935 graduate of Spearman High School and an army veteran of World War II. Mr. Jacobs is a member of Jehovahs Witness Church in Perryton. He was employed by Spearman Post Office for 18 years, serving 11 years as postmaster and retired in 1976. Elmon was an avid gardner and was a purple martin enthusiast with 50 pair nesting in his backyard. She moved to Canyon in early 1980 from Channing. She married Fred Miller on Feb. 10, 1936, and he preceded her death on April 13, 1988. Bessie then married George Gidden on Jan. 25, 2002, in Amarillo. As a member of First Baptist Church in Canyon, she was also a member of the Triple L and Triple L Senior Choir. She was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church and SonShiners Group. Bessie was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her first husband; two daughters, Linda Miller and Cathy DeBord; a grandson, Terry Blackwell; and a stepdaughter, Deniece Boatright. Elna Howell was born March 27, 1910, in Chickasaw County, Miss. to Barney D. and Bertha Opelia Thompson Springer. She married Stacy S. Howell on April 28, 1925 in Canyon. She is a member of First Baptist Church, King's Daughters Sunday School Class and a past member and secretary of Amarillo Baptist Association. She was also a Charter Member of Ralph Home Demonstration Club. Elna and her family came from Mississippi to Texas by covered wagon in 1922. The trip was about 1,000 miles. It took six weeks to make the trip. Elna and her family left Mississippi in early May and arrived over at Canyon around the middle of June. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998.
