Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Billy Powell officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Hayward was born Feb. 21, 1943, in Clayton, N.M., to Margret and Lawrence Hayward. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Hayward had been a truck driver for Baldwin Trucking. Survivors include two sons, Merle Hayward of Blythe, Calif., and John Hayward of Amarillo; four daughters, Donna Carlisle of Edmonson, Diana Cato of New Hope, Ala., and Winnie Williams and Wanda Powell, both of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Foster Lowe James Foster Lowe, 74, of Amarillo, formerly of Stratford, died Friday, May 4, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in South Georgia Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller pastor officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Stratford Cemetery in Stratford with the Rev. Rodney Ray Roberson, chaplain of Conway Human Development Center in Conway, Ark., officiating. Flag detail will be by American Legion Post No. 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors of Stratford. Mr. Lowe was born Aug. 19, 1932, in Dalhart to Bill and Madge Lowe, who resided at that time in Gruver. In 1946, he moved to Stratford and graduated from Stratford High School in 1953. After graduation, he joined the Army and served two years in Germany. Returning to Stratford, he was employed by Consumer's Supermarket and drove a school bus for the Stratford School District. On Aug. 3, 1969, he married Luzelle Roberson in Stratford and acquired five children. He was a loving and caring husband and father until his death. He always had a smile and was loved by everyone who touched his life. The family gives special thanks to all the people who cared for him at the Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic, the VA Hospital and BSA Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Glendon Lowe. Survivors include his wife, Luzelle; two sons, Gary Roberson and wife Peggy of Sapulpa, Okla., and the Rev. Rodney Ray Roberson and wife Stacee of Conway; three daughters, Kaye Gunkel and husband Dennis, Gaye McKinney and Melody French and husband Gary, all of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren. Hunter Rowena D. Hunter, 99, of Amarillo died Saturday, May 5, 2007. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. After graduating from John Brown College, Mrs. Hunter joined her sister in Amarillo. Rowena was a pioneer of West Texas, arriving in Amarillo as an employee of the Harvey House Restaurant. It was there she met her husband, Roy McGee, and they married on Nov. 14, 1925. Roy and Rowena raised a family of two daughters and one son. Rowena was a homemaker and also managed the Martha Washington Candy Store in Amarillo for many years. After being widowed in January 1964, she met and married Howard Hunter on Nov. 23, 1968. Rowena had a broad range of interests. She loved to hunt and fish and was a skilled marksman. She was an accomplished oil and china painter and an avid bridge player. We will all miss her sense of humor and her wit. She was preceded in death by two children, Jack McGee and Betty Rae Coble; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a daughter, Carman Snook of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Pinkie McGee of Amarillo; a sister, Alsa Romano of Kissamee, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Barbee was born March 7, 1916, in Burnett to Charles and Ellen Joyner. Her father was a Baptist minister and they traveled and moved many times as she grew up. She attended two years at Hardin-Simmons University and graduated from Howard Payne University with a degree in education. She later earned her master's degree in special education from West Texas State University. She married Otha Barbee on Sept. 5, 1940, in Spur and they moved to Amarillo in 1947. She taught school for AISD for 33 years. She taught at Lamar, Ridgecrest and Bivins Elementary. She touched the lives of many children with her generous spirit. She was a splendorous light to all who knew her. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church where she was a past staff member, sang in the choir for more than 30 years and was active in the WMU. She assisted her husband in leadership of the Adult 6 Sunday School Department and worked in the children's ministry for many years. She moved to Largo, Fla., in 2001 to be near her children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Suellen Barbee and husband Doss Stephens of Phoenix; a son, Mark Barbee and wife Susan of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Polly Autry of Midland; two grandchildren, Devon Bass and Stacia Warren; and many friends who loved her very much. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pamala Kaye Jarvis Pamala Kaye Jarvis, 56, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Pamala was born April 20, 1951, in Dallas to Talmage and Mary Jarvis. She lived in many states but loved the Panhandle the best. Her love affair for our Western heritage began at an early age. She began professionally designing and illustrating in 1972. She illustrated for AQHA Journal, AQHA Coloring Book, the Amarillo Globe-News and other area businesses. After studying the history of Amarillo, she developed a cartoon character named Tex-Hoss. Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie Fox and husband Michael of Amarillo; a son, Jon DePauw of Amarillo; a sister, Cheryl Squyres of Amarillo; a brother, Danny Jarvis of Rogers, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Ashley, Bethany, Skyler, Saxxon and Shelby. He loved the mountains, loteria, dancing, singing and spending time with the family. He touched the lives of all who knew and loved him. He had a very special love for all his nieces and nephews. Johnny liked to party, that's why he left us on the Cinco de Mayo, so he could party with our brother, Joe. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Orline Ybarra, in 1990; and a brother, Jose Ybarra, in 2005. Mr. Jacobs was born Jan. 3, 1919, near Elmwood, Okla. He married Alteena Harvey in 1955, in Woodward, Okla. She died in 1992. He married Helen Spalding in 1995 in Pampa. He was a 1935 graduate of Spearman High School and an army veteran of World War II. Mr. Jacobs is a member of Jehovahs Witness Church in Perryton. He was employed by Spearman Post Office for 18 years, serving 11 years as postmaster and retired in 1976. Tommy was born June 17, 1929, in Paducah to Seless Lane and Tom H. Fowler. The second of six boys, Tommy served in the U.S. Army. Tommy will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of reading and love of family. Tommy was very active in the automotive industry in all phases. Most recently he was employed by Weatherford ISD. He was a member of the Weatherford Lions Club and owner/operator of TJ's Quick Stop in Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo; both parents, and two brothers, James and Bruce Fowler. She graduated from Sherman High School. When she lived in Sherman, she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a wonderful person who loved to sew (fix things), loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and especially her daughter Vicki and husband Jerry. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bond; two sons, Vernon Anderson Jr. and Ronnie Anderson; three siblings, Milton Hughes, Mary Crow and Sue Stapleton; and her parents.
