Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with a cleric of Giac Hoa Temple in Amarillo officiating. Mr. Nguyen was born in North Vietnam on May 13, 1926. He was general manager for Hazama-Gumi Ltd. Vietnam branch which built the first hydroelectric dam in Vietnam. He moved to the United States, became a citizen and worked for General Motors in Oklahoma City for 12 years before retiring in 1990. Mr. Nguyen returned to Vietnam in 1991 where he lived until returning to the United States and Amarillo in 2004. He was a member of Giac Hoa Temple in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Son Vi Nguyen of Amarillo; a daughter, Nhung Nguyen of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Ngoc Dinh Nguyen and Cuong Van Nguyen both of Oklahoma City; a sister, Hoa Thi Nguyen of Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Wayne Smith Gary Wayne Smith, 59, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 22, 2007. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Gary was born March 26, 1948, in San Angelo. He was a resident of Amarillo for most of his life. He attended Palo Duro High School, Class of 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Amarillo College. He began his career with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in August 1977, where he worked until his death. Gary married Terri Cotton on May 28, 1968. They have one son, Rusty. Gary's parents are William Elmer and Mary Lou Smith of Dallas and W. E. "Bill" Felton Jr. of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Felton and his brother Kyle Felton. Survivors include his wife, Terri Smith; a son, Rusty Smith and wife Holly of Amarillo; his parents of Amarillo; two grandsons, Troy and Garrett Messer; a sister-in-law, Brenda Felton Burgett of Amarillo; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends. Prior to moving to Amarillo he had lived in Denver for 33 years where he was employed by Cryenco Cryogenics Engineering Co. In 1977, he moved to Amarillo to pastor Free Church of God in Christ in Jesus Name. He also became employed by the city of Amarillo from which he retired. After retiring he began his full-time ministry at Temple of Praise Community Church as pastor. He also served as the presiding prelate of the Apostolic Pentecostal Fellowship of Churches. Survivors include his wife Billie; two sons, Horace Stacey III and wife Ravonette and Chris Brown, all of Amarillo; two daughters, Dede Brown and husband Chris and Stephanie Michael, all of Amarillo.; a brother, Richard Hendrix of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one aunt, Christene Smith of Denver; and a number of other relatives including the Temple of Praise Community Church. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Grace Marie Croft Grace Marie Croft, 84, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Dalhart. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Flo was born May 4, 1926, in Texline to Lewis and Leta Wadkins Johnson. In 1948 she moved to Dalhart where she met her husband of 48 years, Wesley Brown. She spent most of her time as a homemaker. Flo also was a baby sitter and worked at the local laundromat. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dalhart. In 1999 she moved to Amarillo with her daughter, Kay Lynn Fuller. She became very active in the United Way as a spokesperson. Flo attended Jan Werner Adult Day Care five times a week and joined the South Georgia Baptist Church. In 2006 she moved to Kirkland Court nursing facility, where she met many new friends and played multiple games of bingo. She enjoyed singing, word-find books, playing wahoo and chicken foot and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to attend any baseball game she could. The family would like to give thanks to Kirkland Court, BSA Hospital staff and Texas Tech School of Medicine - Dr. Jerry Kirkland. Survivors include a daughter; Kay Lynn Fuller; a granddaughter, Tonia Cordova and husband Philbert; a grandson, Shawn Warren and wife Kim; three great grandsons, Matthew Cordova, Briar Cordova and Caymon Warren, all of Amarillo. "Buddie" Campbell R.Q. "Buddie" Campbell, 84, of Canyon died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. "Buddie" Campbell was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Runnels County to Ida Carr and John Alexander Campbell. He served as a gunner's mate in the U.S. Navy on the Pacific front during World War II. Buddie was an independent contractor and cement mason. His work was marked by quality and artistry. Buddie loved working in his yard and vegetable garden and avidly followed the news. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to play "forty-two." He was preceded in death by 12 siblings; and two wives. Survivors include a daughter, Kathie Campbell Greer of Amarillo; two sons, Ron Campbell and wife Kim of Canyon and Lindon Campbell and wife Sharon of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Thomas Clyde Miller was born Jan. 28, 1916, to Nobie and Egbert Miller in Gould, Okla. He was a veteran of World War II and lifetime member of the VFW. He served in combat in WWII as Army infantry through Belgium and Germany and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Clyde was a printer and lifelong salesman of printing as well as a professional musician. He loved playing his trumpet in bands throughout the Panhandle and New Mexico. He played with "Clyde Miller and The Sunshine Valley Boys" in the early '50s. His hobbies were music, golf, and his family. He was Master Mason of Khiva Temple and was a past member of the Khiva Shrine Stage Band. Clyde had lived in Canyon since 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orise Miller; and a sister, Edith Brewer. Survivors include his wife; Henrietta Stall Miller; two sons, Michael Miller of Canyon and Rick Miller of Dallas; a daughter, Melody Dillon of Canyon; two sisters, Maureen May of Clovis, N.M., and Velma Rose Strong of Deming, N.M.; a brother, Rudolph Miller of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Tommy Maxine McCoy GRANBURY - Tommy Maxine McCoy, 76, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Burial was Thursday in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas by Wiley Funeral Home. Mrs. McCoy was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Albany, Okla. She grew up in Bokchito, Okla., and later moved to Dallas where she met and married Buster McCoy. They lived in Amarillo for 40 years. She had lived in Granbury for the past two years. She was a loving mother and wife. She was married to her husband for 55 years and cared for him in his later years after he suffered a stroke. She loved garage sale adventures with her "adopted sister," Dale Siedel. She especially loved and cherished her two "perfect" grandchildren, Caitlyn and Colton. Survivors include a son, Michael McCoy; a daughter-in-law, Cammy McCoy; and two grandchildren, Caitlyn and Colton, all of Granbury. Graves LYKENS, Pa. - Harold C. Graves, 87, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Monday, May 14, 2007. Services were May 18 in St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Spring Glen. Arrangements were by Sephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home of Klingerstown. Mr. Graves was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Corvallis, Ore., to the late Ben and Bessie Cleveland Graves. He was a truck driver employed by Chemical Express in Amarillo, retiring in 1981. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Spring Glen and the VFW in Amarillo. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and receiving the American Theater Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed shop work, reading, flea markets and aviation. He married the former Kathryn J. Kirkpatrick in November 1947 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Johannes Zinzendorf, born Donald Graves, of Pitman; and a brother, Herbert M. Graves of Baton Rouge, La. She graduated from high school in 1922 in Rogers, Ark., moved to Amarillo in 1923 and married Morris Lee Estess Sr. in 1925. Mrs. Estess lived in Amarillo until 1991. She was a stay-at-home mom except for part-time work at a school cafeteria for several years. She and her husband owned motels in Amarillo, and she and her son, Raymond, also owned a motel in Zapata, Texas. Lena attended West Amarillo Christian Church for many years. She became a world traveler during the 1970s and 1980s, when she traveled to a number of countries including Israel (twice), England, France, Ireland, Switzerland and China. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris L. Estess Sr.; four children, Kathleen Estess, Raymond W. Estess, Judy Smith and Joan Martin; and two grandchildren, Carrie Dawn Clementi and Christina Rae Clementi. Survivors include a son, Morris L.
