Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Portland Avenue Free Methodist Church in Abilene. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home of Abilene. Mrs. Sandlin was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Runnels County to Leslie and Monie Schumn Carlton. She married Otis Sandlin on Jan. 25, 1942, in Sweetwater. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Nelson of Amarillo, a son Fred "Sandy" Sandlin; a sister, Francis Loving of Tuscola area; and three grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blanche Brooks Blanche Brooks, 103, of Amarillo died Friday, May 25, 2007. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Dick Brooks and Jon Jones officiating. A private family burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery at 10 a.m. by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Brooks was born June 11, 1903, in Algood, Tenn., to Henry Dick and Sally Franklin. She married Howard Raymond Brooks in El Paso on Jan. 7, 1923. He preceded her in death in 1991. She and her husband moved to Amarillo in 1927. With the birth of her first child, Mrs. Brooks started the "Child Psychology Club," which continued for many years as the TED Club through the Federated Women's Clubs. During World War II she worked for General Mills. In 1948, the family started Brooks Dry Goods. She ran the store while her husband continued his work at General Mills until her retirement in 1962. A member of Central Church of Christ since 1927, she was an active member of the Ladies Bible Class and the Son Shiners. She was a very social and generous woman, always caring for others in need. Survivors include two sons, Howard Dick Brooks of Amarillo, and William C. Brooks and wife Jean of Flower Mound; a daughter, Joan Brooks Jones and husband Jon of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren, Allison Northern, Stacey Martin and husband Jim, Jan Patterson and husband Jeff, Jeffrey Jones and wife Jo Ann, Julie Brown and husband Scott, William M. Monroe, Amarillo, TX 79101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Billie Frances Norman Billie Frances Norman of Amarillo died Friday, May 25, 2007. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Georgia King, longtime friend and colleague, officiating. Billie was born in Cheyenne, Okla., to Marion and Fleta Archer, and grew up in Strong City, Okla. In 1958, she moved to Amarillo. While working full time and raising three children, in 1969, she earned a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University in education. She taught math and music at Oak Dale Elementary School for six years while working on her master's degree in counseling. She went on to become a counselor for the AISD for the next 24 years. During this time she received many recognitions, awards, and certifications, including her L.P.C., The Kenneth Waugh Outstanding School Counselor Award, and she was a Senator for the Texas Counseling Association. In 2000, after only being retired for three months, she moved on to become a part-time counselor for Ascension Academy. Billie loved being a part of this special school and worked there until May 2005. She was highly admired by her colleagues and loved by all who knew and worked with her. In 1987, Billie met the love of her life, her soul-mate, her beloved Lindy Norman. They married and together shared 20 wonderful fun-filled years of companionship, travel, their children, grandchildren and wonderful friends. Billie became ill this past year and Lindy never left her side. He was her rock. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Fleta Archer; and her mother-in-law, Joyce Norman. Survivors include her husband, Lindy Norman; a daughter, Kelly Caldwell and husband Chris of Amarillo; three sons, Jason Norman of Amarillo, Jimmy Hunt and wife Marie of Bangladesh, Wayne Hunt and wife June of Euless; four grandchildren, Amy Hunt of Bangladesh, Tyler Dean and wife Greta of Fort Worth, Katie Billie Dean of Amarillo and William Hunt of Houston; a brother, Ron Archer and wife Sarah of Amarillo; and a sister Patricia Goddard and husband Glen of Terre Haute, Ind. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Vera was born Jan. 5, 1928, to Thomas Edmon and Myrza Belle Tow in Crosbyton. She grew up in Amarillo and attended Horace Mann and Amarillo High School. In her life, Vera was a servant of the Lord and to others. She found the good in everyone and touched many lives. She married Roy Jewel Phillips on Nov. 8, 1947. They were married for 52 years. Vera was known to many by her nickname "Moses," she was an inspiration and leader in her family. She was a Sunday school teacher most of her life and always attended church, most recently Victory Tabernacle. She played the piano for various churches and organizations. Vera spent many hours playing music with her family. She was a songwriter and vibrant storyteller. She was also a talented seamstress and loved to bake. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; her father, and two sisters. Survivors include her mother; three daughters, Lynda Tomlinson and husband Ronnie, Lynita Roberson and husband Ted and Darla Haddox and husband Mike, all of Amarillo; a son, Howard Phillips and wife Tara of Amarillo; three brothers; three sisters; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love her dearly. The family will be at 1208 S. Buchanan. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael "Spike" Molina Michael "Spike" Molina, 52, of Amarillo died Friday, May 25, 2007. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Monday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 1500 S. Osage St. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Michael graduated from Caprock High School and had previously lived in Phoenix, and then in Dallas. He returned to Amarillo in 2001. He enjoyed working as a mechanic on airplanes and also enjoyed working on antique cars. He was also an avid fan of car races. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who loved him. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his parents, F.M and Josephine Molina of Amarillo; a sister, Mona Krayer and husband Barry of Phoenix; three nieces, Joann Flores of San Diego, Angela Garcia and Sonja Garcia, both of Amarillo; a nephew; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Bell St. Mrs. Daniel was born Oct. 2, 1924. She moved to Amarillo in 1953. For 56 years she loved taking her kids and grandkids to and from school. Mrs. Daniel loved sewing and was a devoted housewife. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; and great-great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband, Dean Daniel; three sons, Carroll Rexrode of Amarillo, Curtis Rexrode and wife Nancy and Alan Rexrode and wife Rita; two stepdaughters, Meredith Paxton and husband Al and Zenna Peck; a sister, Jeanie Wallace; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great- grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Tompkins was born Aug. 5, 1935, to Jimmy and Artis Ivy of Lazbuddie. She was a graduate of Lazbuddie High School and Amarillo College. Mitzi worked as a TWA Airline stewardess and later worked for U.S. Steel in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ivy Smith. Survivors include a son, Bradley Tompkins of Dallas; two brothers, Ronald Ivy of Dimmitt, and Jimmy D. Mrs. Young was born Sept. 23, 1933, to Jerry and Celia Wilson Thompson in Caldwell, Texas, and married Aaron Young on May 30, 1953, in Caldwell. She loved to garage sale, sports, cooking and sewing, and with her green thumb she could make anything grow.
