Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in North Amarillo Church of Christ with Glenn Walton, minister, officiating. Ettie Purdy Harvey, 90, of Amarillo was called home on June 6, 2007, at Plum Creek Healthcare Center. She was born Oct. 17, 1916, in Love County, Okla., and was the oldest of three children. She attended schools in Gasoline and Quitaque. Ettie was a licensed vocational nurse and worked at various nursing homes until her retirement in 1979. She was married to Howard Harvey for 25 years and gave birth to seven children. She was a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. Her biggest enjoyment during her later years was gardening, sewing, embroidering and quilting. Survivors she leaves behind include five children, Mary Jo Sechrist, Sonny Harvey, Raymond Harvey, Pill Harvey and Sue Potts; 20 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hutsell was born June 16, 1936, in Silverton to Clyde and Manemma Riddell Hutsell. He married Tomiko Matuda on Jan. 11, 1971, in Japan. Mr. Hutsell was retired from the U.S. Army and was a chef for the veterans hospital in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Mrs. Silva was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandmother. Mr. Hunt was born May 2, 1931, in Dodson, the fourth of seven children to Gilbert Edwin Hunt and Ruth May Royal Hunt. He married Elizabeth Joy on Aug. 28, 1951, in Dallas. He graduated from Dodson High School in 1948. He moved to Dallas to attend Young Arts School after which he was employed by the Dallas office of Library Bureau, a division of Remington Rand Corp. He began as a draftsman then moved to sales and eventually became the national director of sales. In 1979, Vance left the company to attend Bible college to become a minister. He graduated and worked with the college until 1984, when he started his successful business in library sales. On June 2, 2007, Vance suffered a massive brain hemorrhage, struggling until June 7, when he went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ. He was preceded in death by Elba, Howard, Billy Dale Hunt, Erma Lee Duckworth and Kenneth Hunt. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hunt; three sons, Steve Hunt and wife Marina of Del Rio, Alan Hunt and wife Shamin of Dallas and John Hunt and wife Kim of Arlington; a sister, Marilyn Garton of Hollis, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren, Christie Hunt, Odaliz, Evelyn and Melba Hunt, Jeremy and Brian Hunt and Austin, Brett, Cara and Daphne Hunt. Neely Landrum of First United Methodist Church and John Scott officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Funeral Home of Spearman. Joyce was born Sept. 9, 1933, to Harry Samuel and Grace Viola Bruner in Shamrock. She graduated from McLean High School in 1953 and moved to Amarillo to work and play professional basketball for Bob Dowell and the "Dowell's Dolls." Joyce, along with her mother, operated Wade's Diner in Spearman for many years until Grace's retirement in 1975. Many people in Spearman still remember their wonderful cooking. Joyce also worked for many years in the produce department at Lowes Grocery Store always having a smile on her face and a willingness to help anyone. Joyce loved to bowl and participated in several bowling leagues along with some of her good friends. She was a member of Spearman Church of Christ. Joyce will be remembered for her great cooking and her sweet spirit. Joyce married Gordon Keetch on July 21, 1956, and later married Harold J. Frost on April 15, 1972. Harold died on April 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Grace Bruner; a brother, Bob Bruner; a sister, Betty Stephens; and an infant daughter, Rhonda Joyce. Survivors include a son, Robbin Keetch and wife Lisa of Perryton; a daughter, Tracie Burcham and husband Joey of Sublette, Kan.; four grandchildren, Brittany Yeary and husband Tyler of Lubbock, Laci Keetch of Perryton and Robyn Burcham and Weston Burcham, both of Sublette; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Rodriguez and Wyatt Yeary; a sister, Helen Melton and husband Richard of Spearman; a brother, W.A. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mary Elva Hubble Wood was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Henderson to J.E. and Reesie Willard. She moved with her parents to Wheeler in 1924 at the age of 6. She lived most of her life in Wheeler, graduating from Wheeler High School in 1937. She attended college at the University of Texas and West Texas State. She received her degree from WT in 1941. She taught school for 34 years at Pleasant Valley, Kelton, Canadian and Wheeler schools, teaching 28 years in Wheeler. She married Leo Hubble in 1943. To this union two children were born, James Hubble and Elizabeth Atchley. In 1957 she married Fred Wood. He died in 1981. She had been a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church since 1928. She belonged to the United Methodist Women, '54 Study Club, Wednesday Study Club, West Texas State Teachers Association, Wheeler County Retired Teachers Association, Wheeler Senior Citizens, Wheeler Volunteer Care Center Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, was a sponsor of the Kelton Senior Class of 1943 and was voted Outstanding Woman of The Year in 1991 by Wheeler Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a stepdaughter, Francis Allen. Martha Kathleen Crawford Bolander Johnston was born Feb. 6, 1910, in the town of Elida, Territory of New Mexico. Kathleen grew up in Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Amarillo, Texas, where she graduated from Amarillo High in 1927. Kathleen married Elmer Thomas "Jack" Bolander on Christmas Eve 1928. She and Jack had two children, Jack "C" Bolander (retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander) and Donna Bolander (Mrs. Erle P. Halliburton Jr.). She married again after Jack's death to her childhood sweetheart, Raymond D. "Si" Johnston of Mount Ayr. She was active in her youth as a Rainbow Girl and in later years with the Poinsettia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She helped establish the credit department at Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co. in Duncan, Okla., where she worked for more than 20 years. She was an active member of numerous houses of worship in her lifetime, the most recent being West Hills Baptist Church in Knoxville. Kathleen's faith in the Lord was unquestionable and unwavering. Her love of family was everything to her and to us. Her kindness, her generosity, her grace will always be remembered ... and greatly missed. She was preceded in death by both husbands; and a son, Jack.
