Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Cole of St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Amarillo, the Rev. Neely Landrum of First United Methodist Church and John Scott officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Joyce was born Sept. 9, 1933, to Harry Samuel and Grace Viola Bruner in Shamrock. She graduated from McLean High School in 1953 and moved to Amarillo to work and play professional basketball for Bob Dowell and the "Dowell's Dolls." Joyce, along with her mother, operated Wade's Diner in Spearman for many years until Grace's retirement in 1975. Many people in Spearman still remember their wonderful cooking. Joyce also worked for many years in the produce department at Lowes Grocery Store always having a smile on her face and a willingness to help anyone. Joyce loved to bowl and participated in several bowling leagues along with some of her good friends. She was a member of Spearman Church of Christ. Joyce will be remembered for her great cooking and her sweet spirit. Joyce married Gordon Keetch on July 21, 1956, and later married Harold J. Frost on April 15, 1972. Harold died on April 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Grace Bruner; a brother, Bob Bruner; a sister, Betty Stephens; and an infant daughter, Rhonda Joyce. Survivors include a son, Robbin Keetch and wife Lisa of Perryton; a daughter, Tracie Burcham and husband Joey of Sublette, Kan.; four grandchildren, Brittany Yeary and husband Tyler of Lubbock, Laci Keetch of Perryton and Robyn Burcham and Weston Burcham, both of Sublette; two great-grandchildren, Jaden Rodriguez and Wyatt Yeary; a sister, Helen Melton and husband Richard of Spearman; a brother, W.A. Bruner and wife Faye of Abilene; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Louisa Wilson FRIONA - Louisa Wilson, 100, died Thursday, June 7. There will be no services. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Louisa Lydia Schlenker was born Sept. 25, 1906, to Charles and Amelia Schlenker near Des Moines, Iowa. When she was 2 months old, her parents and eight brothers and sisters moved to West Texas and homesteaded in the Rhea community. Louisa graduated from Friona High School and attended Normal College in Canyon. On April 25, 1925, she married Ralph Wilson of O'Donnell. They lived and farmed at Rhea until 1940, when they moved six miles west of Friona. Louisa and Ralph had one child, Mamie Lou. Louisa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and community leader. She was instrumental in helping Ralph farm and ranch for 69 years. In 1942, she volunteered as a Girl Scout troop leader and that was the beginning of 57 happy years working with girls. As a result, the Girl Scout house was named in her honor. Her legacy continues to influence many lives. She was a great cook who passed this joy to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her collection of recipes has been enjoyed by many. Louisa was famous for her ability to design and create seed pictures as well as other arts and crafts. She found great pleasure in quilting, and her hand- decorated Christmas cookies were masterpieces. She enjoyed sharing her artisanship with others. She received the Woman of Year Award in 1960 and Woman of Distinction Award in 1999. Louisa was a member of Union Congregational Church. Louisa lived a long and productive life and will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; five brothers; and her husband, Ralph. Survivors include her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Mamie Lou and Louis Welch; four grandchildren, Jan Welch Bogard, Gay Welch Jucha, Holly Welch Easley and Ralph Lynn Welch; six great-grandchildren, Mende Moore, Melanie Scott, Brandon Petree, Logan Bingham, Blaire Herring and Hayes Jones; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Potts. Nance, 81, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rock Creek Church of Christ with Curtis Shelburne, pastor of 16th and D Church of Christ in Muleshoe, and B. Shelburne, director of South Houston Bible Institute, officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Chancellor Funeral Home. J.D. was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Lockney to Joel and Jewell Nance. He attended Lone Star schools and graduated from Silverton High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a military policeman stationed in the Philippines. Returning home to Silverton, he farmed for many years in Floyd and Briscoe counties until his retirement. J.D. married Lois Brown on Feb. 21, 1961. J.D. and Lois were very active in Rock Creek Church of Christ, where they were members for many years and J.D. was an elder. They devoted much of their time to visiting community as well church members who were in the hospital or otherwise sick or shut in. They were also active in the church mission work and spent time in Malawi, Africa, assisting the missionaries at the Namikango Mission in 1977. They also made four mission trips to Mexico. Lois preceded J.D. in death in 1994. On April 19, 1997, he married Vernell Cotton in Turkey, Texas. They too were very active in the visitation ministry of the church and supported and participated in a number of Christian mission and relief efforts. J.D. held regular preaching appointments in churches in Quitaque and Flomot for more than 40 years. He also officiated at numerous funerals as well as ministered extensively in the Silverton/Quitaque/Turkey/Flomot area. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hugh Nance; and a sister, Edna Grant. Survivors include his wife, Vernell; four daughters, Faith Redies and husband Rex of Plainview, Caroll Fuston and husband Derrel of Houston, Glenna Robbins and her husband of Carrizozo, N.M., and Juana Shelburne and husband Curtis of Muleshoe; two sisters, Norma Scarborough of Amarillo and Betty Heines of South Bend, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Flores was born Aug. 9, 1955, in Kinston, N.C., to John Ray and Ruth Weston. She married Ruben Flores on Oct. 18, 1975, in Richlands, N.C. Moudy, 85, died Friday, June 8, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Happy Church of Christ with Rick Bloodworth, minister, officiating. Foy Moudy was born on the 4th of July, 1921, in Altus, Okla., to Lella Foster Moudy and Robert Thomas Moudy Sr. He graduated from Abilene Christian High School and attended Abilene Christian University. He served as captain and B-24 bomber pilot in the 15th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps from January 1944 to October 1945. While stationed in Italy he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross among many other medals. He married Lucy Blake on Oct. 13, 1945, in Winfield, Kan., and settled in Happy, where he farmed and raised his family. He was a member of Happy Church of Christ, where he served as an elder from 1970 until his death. Hughes St. Patricia Jane Collins was born Dec. 4, 1940, in Tacoma, Wash., to Dan and Bettie McQueen. She grew up in Spokane and Pullman, Wash. In 1961, she met Owen Collins who became her husband, and they lived alternately in Washington, Texas and California. In 1992 they became permanent residents of Amarillo. She worked in the dietary field for 25 years before retiring in 1998. After retiring she attended Amarillo College to study computer science. He worked in the maintenance department of the Texas Highway Department for many years. He married Loretta Lockaby on Nov. 28, 1942, in Bonham. Henneman A.C. Henneman, 75, of Amarillo died Friday, June 8, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Gil Lain, pastor of Paramount Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Henneman was born Dec. 13, 1931, in Amarillo. He graduated from Farwell High School in Farwell in 1949. He married Valarie "Val" Joyce Dial on Sept. 3, 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. After his discharge as a staff sergeant, he returned to West Texas State University for three years and earned his B.B.A. in Business. Upon graduation, he worked for Jenkins Music Co. from 1959 until 1963. He then became vice president for McCormick Advertising Co. until his retirement in May 1989. Mr. Henneman was a life member of the Palo Duro Chapter of American Business Clubs. He served as president of the chapter in 1965-66 and again in 1974-75. He was awarded the Mr. ABMUC Award for District 6-B in 1965-66. He served as governor for District 6-B in 1968-69. He was awarded Mr. AMBUC award for the chapter again in 1971-72. He served as chapter secretary-treasurer from 1980 to 2003, and as District 6-B secretary-treasurer in 1985-86. He earned the chapter Mr. AMBUC Award again in 1995 and AMBUC Of The Year Award for District 6-B in 1995. He was also active in the Southwestern Association of Advertising Agencies in 1983-85, and was awarded the prestigious Silver Medal award by the Amarillo Advertising Federation. Survivors include his wife, "Val" Valarie; a son, Scott E. Henneman; a daughter, Vicki Palmer and husband Kent; and twin grandsons, Brent and Blake Palmer. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M., by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Michael Cavin Neeley of Canyon went to Heaven on June 7, 2007 at the age of 41. Mike was born July 16, 1965, in Oklahoma City to Bob and Helen Neeley. Mike and his family moved to Yukon in 1977. He was very athletic and loved all types of sports growing up. While in high school, Mike was involved in FFA and football. He had an abundance of wonderful friends and was affectionately known as "Squeeler." He was a genuinely caring person and touched the lives of those around him on a daily basis. Upon graduation, Mike had been accepted to Oklahoma State University and was going to major in architecture. While en route to a local community college to complete a summer course, he was involved in a serious car accident which left him severely physically disabled. Mike continued to touch lives even in the physically limited condition he was in. He brought the true caring nature out of those who had contact with him. His smile was infectious and would light up a room. We will miss you so much but we know you are with mom and dad in the loving arms of Jesus Christ. Thank you to the absolutely incredible staff of Canyon Health Care who have cared and loved Michael for so many years. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, father and grandparents. She then moved to Amarillo in 1974. Mrs. Silva resided in Canyon since 1990 where she had wanted to live and loved the climate. Mrs. Silva was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her mother and her grandmother. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Swinney was born Jan. 19, 1916, in Ripley, Miss. She moved to Amarillo in 1939. She was a friend, loving wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and great- grandmother. She married Walter Ellis "Swede" Swinney on June 3, 1933. They had three daughters. She was a homemaker for many years and then worked in retail sales at Sakowitz. She worked and studied very hard to get a real estate broker's license and worked in that field for many years before retiring in her 80s. She was a member of the Amarillo Board of Realtors for more than 20 years. She and her husband were some of the original members of the Homebuilders' Class at Polk Street United Methodist Church, and she loved her church and loved the Lord. Her favorite verse was the Lord's Prayer. She was also a member of the Home Arts Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; a sister; a son-in-law; her husband; and her beloved young daughter, Barbara Ann Swinney. June Vissotzky, a retired teacher, passed away after battling valiantly against brain cancer since January 2006. She was born in Blackwell, Okla., to the Rev. Harvey and Bernice Parker. After graduating from Trinity University in San Antonio, she married Henry Vissotzky on Nov. 28, 1953. June was active in First Christian Church in Stephenville, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority. She directed and taught at Stepping Stones School at United Methodist Church for 12 years. A talented, award-winning artist, she taught art at Stephenville High School for 20 years. Upon retiring in 1994, June spent time with her family and loved to travel. Not one to be idle, she also worked as the Curves manager for several years after her retirement. June loved being around young people and sharing knowledge with them and was a joy to all who knew and loved her. She was the perfect example of a Christian woman, wife, daughter, mother and friend. She will always be missed, but her legacy on this Earth will be remembered with the continued education of her students and the sharing of their knowledge with future generations.
