Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Ricky Pfeil officiating. Mrs. Card was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Eric, Pa. She worked for more than 25 years as a hairdresser. She owned Mi Lady Hair Salon. She married Charles Card on April 12, 1947 in Eric, Pa. Survivors include her husband, Charles "Charlie" Card; and a sister, Lena Presogna of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nola Carter Nola Carter, 93, of Amarillo died Saturday, June 9, 2007. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Mrs. Carter was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Washington, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1958 from Artesia, N.M. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Mrs. Carter was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She married Daniel Carter in December 1936. He preceded her in death in 1984. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Carter and wife Karen of Amarillo and Tommy Carter and wife Connie of Calimesa, Calif.; a sister, Hazel Pierce of Belen, N.M.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren. Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Flippin was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Abernathy to L.J. and Emily Jordan. She was a member and founder of the Amarillo, Wichita Falls and Zapata Red Hat Societies. She was a volunteer at BSA Hospital for more than 37 years, and served as the group president. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was the 2-year-olds' Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include her husband, Bob; a son, Travis Bentley and wife Diana; two brothers, R.D. and Dewayne Jordan; a sister, Janelle Hiser; four granddaughters, Angie Denham, Misti Mitteis, Charity Bentley and Emily Romanelli; and three great-grandchildren, Victoria, Gabrielle and Lainie Denham. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Freeman was born Feb. 9, 1946, in England and moved to the United States in the mid-1940s. He worked with his dad at Anderson Mattress Co. until his dad retired in 1989. Mr. Freeman loved all kinds of animals especially horses. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Freeman, in 2000; and his mother, Dorothy Freeman, in 2002. Survivors include four cousins, Jeanette Moore and Joyce Bashaw, both of Amarillo, Paul James Wood of Celina and Peter Wood of Aurora, Colo.; and eight second cousins. Mrs. Wade was born Dec. 6, 1941, in Sweetwater to Truitt and Christine Posey Williams. She married Bobby Wade on Sept. 28, 1965, in Scottsboro. Ala. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Tanya Goss of Quanah; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aaron Batman DUMAS - Aaron Batman, 86, died Sunday, June 10, 2007. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Turner, retired music minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Aaron Batman was born July 5, 1920, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Wesley and Ada Batman. He was in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving from Aug. 1941 to Oct. 1945, and attained the rank of sergeant. He was in battles and campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, in charge of artillery for anti-aircraft. On Nov. 5, 1945, he married Bonnie Caton who preceded him in death on July 15, 2003. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1946 and had worked for Diamond Shamrock as an instrument man for 37 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Steve Batman and wife Jo Anne of Dumas; a sister, Pauline Carson of Oklahoma City; a granddaughter, Heather Batman; and a great- grandson, Jonathan Stephen Goodwin.
