Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel, 509 N. Hughes St., with Dr. Lee Simpson, pastor of Faith Clinic Christian Center Church, officiating. Edward Lee Adams Sr. was born Oct. 21, 1934, in Rockdale to Ulysses and Gussie Douglas Adams. He had been a resident of Amarillo for 17 years. He was a construction laborer and last worked as a custodian for IHS of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his parents and several relatives. Survivors include his wife, Mary Adams; five sons, Johnny E. Chambers and wife Camilie of Corpus Cove, Tracy Adams and wife Felicia of Amarillo, Windell Adams and wife Tonia of Carlsbad, N.M., and Edward Lee Adams Jr. and Marcellus Adams, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Edna Faye Howard of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peggy June Barnes Peggy June Barnes, 72, of Amarillo died Thursday, June 14, 2007. Peggy was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Webster Springs, W.Va. She moved to Amarillo in 1974. She was employed by Asarco Refinery, and retired in 1995 after 19 years of faithful service. Peggy was a very tenacious person, and put her whole heart in everything she did. She was known for her generous and giving spirit. She also shared a great love for animals. Peggy touched the hearts of many, and will be forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. He married Mary Christine Grogan on April 15, 1959, in Birmingham, England. The family moved to America from Ireland in March 1960. He had been a member of St. Laurence Cathedral since 1960. He owned and operated a Chevron gas station on Grand Street for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Christine Grogan; and a sister, Bridget King of Borger. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Daniel was born June 30, 1980, in Tulia to Gildo and Wanita Mata. He had lived at the Lubbock State School since 1989, earning his high school diploma in May 2002 through the LISD homebound program. Daniel participated in the Foster Grandparent Program where he enjoyed one on one interaction with the grandparents. He also liked being outdoors and listening to music. He was greatly loved and will be missed by his family. The Mata family would like to thank all the staff at the Lubbock State School for the care and kindness they provided to Daniel. "Racehorse" Collins BORGER - J.C. "Racehorse" Collins, died Thursday, June 14 2007. Services are pending with Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Collins was born April 3, 1914, in Emory to Bumpus Captain and Minnie Lee Collins. He lived in Acme and attended school in Goodlet, where he graduated from the eighth grade. He moved to Borger in 1927 and was one of many pioneers in the boomtown era of Borger. He was a retired union electrician and a 55- year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Collins was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Borger. He married the love of his life, Leona G. Leonard, on July 21, 1936, in Borger. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2006. He was also proceeded in death by two sisters Ola Mae McNutt and Lola Mae Leonard; six brothers, twins Floy Collins and Roy Collins, Eugene "Bud " Collins, Lewis Collins, Claude Collins and Homer Collins; a granddaughter, Nianglia Jones; a son-in-law, Stacy Jones; and a sister-in-law, Jesse Dean McCarter. Bob was a member of the SMN&R Post No. 163 of the American Legion and VFW Post No. 2699, both in Marysville. Bob traveled with Ginny throughout the United States on genealogy searches and published two books, "Chips for the Woodyard," which records the family history.
