Boyd, 86, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 17, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Boyd was born in Lyra. He married Rosia Lee Collum on Nov. 2, 1946, in Strawn. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from the city of Amarillo in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Gordon Leslie Pringle II, in 1975; and a son, Cecil Boyd, in 1980. Survivors include his wife, Rosia Lee Boyd; three daughters, Anna Chandler of Austin, Mildred Beal and husband Freddy of Quail and Geneva Pringle and husband Leslie of Amarillo; two sons, Charles L. Boyd and wife Janet of Amarillo and Jimmy Boyd of Clarendon; 14 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Gauna, 85, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 17, 2007. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Gauna was born in Tucumcari, N.M., on Sept. 9, 1921, to Perfecto and Mencia Gauna. He spent his childhood years in Clovis, N.M., but lived in Amarillo the remainder part of his life. He married Viola Salazar on Oct. 18, 1945, in Amarillo. Mr. Gauna was a World War II veteran and served our country as an Army ranger. He was involved in the landing at Omaha Beach, the Battle of the Bulge and various other WWII battles receiving two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He worked for Potter County as a juvenile probation officer and as a deputy sheriff retiring after 30 years of service. In another chapter of his life, he was a Golden Gloves boxing coach where he coached several Golden Glove State Champions and one AAU National Champion. Upon retiring, Mariano pursued his love of woodcarving, which was a fundamental part of his life, and he was always proud of the fact that some of his woodcarvings were throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Viola; his parents; a sister, Virginia Garcia; and three brothers, Max Gauna, Lencho Gauna and Alfonso Gauna. Survivors include a brother, Perfecto Gauna Jr. and wife Lucy of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Evelyn Renteria and husband Ray of Spring; three sons, Marion Gauna and wife Isabel, Richard Gauna and wife Lydia, all of Amarillo, and Michael Gauna of Waxahachie; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Lee Banks, pastor, officiating. Mr. Eastep was born Nov. 16, 1967, in Amarillo. He married his love, Janice Reeves, on May 20, 1989. He was devoted to her, and was a wonderful and caring father to their children, Zack, 15 and Nash, 12. Billy could always be counted on to help his family and friends in any way, as he was a talented "honey-do" man. He enjoyed his children's activities and treating them for rides on his Harley. He loved to entertain and will be sincerely missed and fondly remembered by his family, a large circle of friends, and by his co-workers at Kelley Roofing. Survivors include his wife, Janice; a son, Zack; a daughter, Nash; two sisters, Amy Eastep of Eureka, Kan.; and Dea Coleman of Beeville; a brother, Lance Eastep of Colby, Kan.; his father, James Eastep of Colby; his grandmother, Billie Standridge of Amarillo; a niece, Megan Burris of Eureka; his wife's mother, Phyllis Reeves and her family David Reeves of Denver, Jim and wife Sandy Reeves of Richmond, Calif.; and Kelly Snider of Greenville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Elvin was born June 28, 1927, in Stanford, and was raised in Memphis. He married Wanda Phelps on March 5, 1949, in Memphis. Elvin spent the majority of his life as a rancher, breaking horses for both J.A. and Sunshine ranches. Following his ranching career, he went to work for the Amarillo Globe-News until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and fish. Elvin also had interests in playing the guitar and antique cars. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His generosity and humorous personality are just a few of the many things that will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by two sons, Elvin Gooch Jr. III and Richard Gooch; a daughter, Cathy Gooch; and two brothers. She was very family oriented and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading a good book. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. She was raised in Hereford and moved to Amarillo in 1972. In 1973 she dedicated her life in volunteer work as a Jehovah's Witness to tell others the blessings God's kingdom would bring to mankind. She married her husband of 41 years, Paul Soto, on Feb. 10, 1966, in Hereford. She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Cornelius Drerup; three brothers, Louis, James and Robert Drerup. Mr. Turner was born on June 17, 1927, to James and Ida Mae Turner. He was employed from 1945 to 1988 by Southwestern Public Service Co. Mrs. Wolken was born March 17, 1931, in Santo, where she was raised, and moved to Amarillo in 1949. She married Henry "Curly" Wolken on Dec. 8, 1949, in Amarillo. He passed away in 2004. She was a homemaker and a seamstress for many years. Her greatest love was cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. She loved being "Noni" to her grandchildren. She always put the needs of her family first. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Edwards and Charles Edwards. Survivors include a daughter, Traci Berner and husband Steve of Amarillo; two sons, David Wolken and wife Cindy of Amarillo and Randy Wolken of Dallas; four grandchildren, Kurt, Shelby, Haylee and Cooper; and a great-granddaughter, Ella Grace. He moved to Dimmitt in 1955, graduating from Dimmitt High School in 1968, and attended West Texas State University in Canyon. Harry married Deborah Kay Hasley on March 22, 1975. She passed away on Aug. 31, 1994. He was involved in truck transportation for more than 30 years and most recently an independent contractor as owner of Panhandle Building Services Inc. He later married Celeste Hartman on March 14, 1998. He was a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Castro Lodge No. 879, Hereford Lodge No. 849, a member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of El Paso 32nd Degree, member of Khiva Shriners AAONMS of Amarillo and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur W. Jones, in 1980 and his mother, Ferne M. Jones, in 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Granbury First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Holly Hills Memorial Park by Wiley Funeral Home. Dr. Collins was born Nov. 16, 1952, in Amarillo. He moved with his family to Troy Grove, Ill., and then to Guymon, Okla., where he graduated from high school. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma Osteopathic University in Tulsa, Okla. He married his high school sweetheart, Janet McMurry, in 1974 in Guymon. To this union were born Audrey, Shelly and Rachel. After interning in St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Collins established a medical practice in Granbury, where he practiced medicine for many years. He was always concerned for his patients' health and welfare. He enjoyed helping others and was generous in giving to those in need. Dr. Collins was very proud to have coached his daughters in Little League basketball for years and followed all of their academic and athletic endeavors as long as he lived. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors and traveling. Survivors include three daughters, Audrey Collins of Fort Worth, Shelly Collins of Kansas City, Mo., and Rachel Collins of Austin; his parents, Harland and Peggy Collins of Canyon; two brothers, Hardy Collins of Guymon and Dr. Edward Collins of Cumberland, Maine; and a sister, Amy Schneiderman of Tulsa, Okla.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
