Carver, 89, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Bob Thomas of Odyssey Healthcare officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Carver was born July 28, 1917, in Vigo Park to Wilbur Jacob and Ollie Carver. He graduated from Happy High School and continued to reside in the Vigo area until his enlistment in the U.S. Army in December 1941. Mr. Carver served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theaters throughout World War II. He was stationed as a dental technician in Army field hospitals on several islands where major battles for the Pacific took place. He specialized in dental reconstruction. Following his honorable discharge from the Army in September 1945, Mr. Carver attended Texas Tech University to obtain his civilian certification as a dental technician. He co-owned and operated the Carver and Bristow Dental Laboratory in the '50s and '60s, and he opened the Carver Dental Laboratory in 1970 which continued operation until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Carver could not turn down a request from his long-standing customers, and he continued to create specialized fixtures into the '90s. Mr. Carver's commitment to perfection earned customers in all of the surrounding states, west to Arizona, and the northern states of Colorado and Kansas. His efforts eased the suffering of countless thousands of individuals in a career that spanned more than 50 years. While he was certainly industrious, Mr. Carver didn't just work. He married Leona Parrish Carver on Nov. 27, 1952, and together they raised two daughters. He enjoyed taking his family on road trips, camping, boating and riding his horses throughout most of his life. Using his silversmith skills, Mr. Carver also took pleasure in making jewelry for friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Parrish Carver, in 2005; and a brother, Grady Carver. Survivors include two daughters, Tracey C. Walker and husband Len of Amarillo and Tobi C. Sparks and husband Tommy of Beulah, Colo.; a sister, M. Loys Raymer of Kerrville; a brother, Joe Carver of Dimmitt; two grandchildren, Lenzy Walker and James Carver Walker, both of Amarillo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. "Bill" Hammons, 75, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Mr. Hammons was born Dec. 18, 1931, to Edwin and Retha Darlene Hammons in Durham, Okla. He graduated from Durham High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Hammons married the love of his life, Kay LeGrand, in 1956 in Pampa. They celebrated their 50-year anniversary on Nov. 9, 2006. Mr. Hammons graduated from the University of Texas at Austin Pharmacy School and owned a drug store in Stratford before moving to Amarillo in 1981. He retired from High Plains Baptist Hospital after 17 years of employment. After retirement he and his wife traveled throughout the United States. Mr. Hammons loved to walk and spend time at the mall walking and enjoying a cup of coffee with his "walking buddies." He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be missed more than words could ever say. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Hammons and wife Sherry of Amarillo; a daughter, Darla Aufill and husband Jeff of Kemah; two grandchildren, Chera Hodges and husband Tim of Canyon and Matthew Hammons and wife Lauren of Amarillo; and a great-grandson, Christian Hammons. He worked for Fort Worth and Denver Railway for more than 16 years before buying his own farm. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Francis Earlene Bradford in 2004 and Freddie Louise Moran in 1943, his parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, James E. David grew up in Plainview and moved to Amarillo in the early 1950s. He was a truck driver. He married Dollie Dean Thomas on Oct. 13, 1969, in Amarillo, and they raised nine children. He was preceded in death by his father, Calhoun Westmoreland; two brothers, Calvin Westmoreland and John Westmoreland; and a sister, Ruby Westmoreland. Survivors include his wife Dollie D. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and transitioned with the company, retiring from AT&T after 35 years of service. Her hobbies included antiquing, shopping and painting. She loved and drew comfort from family, church and special friends. She was a member of First Assembly of God, Pink Ladies Auxiliary and DAR. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Kehr was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Mansfield to the late Murphy Jones and Birdie Maserang Jones. She attended schools in High Way, Okla. Her family moved several times in Texas and Oklahoma before leaving for California about the time World War II started. Fern became Rosy the Riveter. Actually, she was a welder helping build the victory ships in Oakland. There, on the first day of work in 1942, she met John Kehr. They married April 27, 1943, in Oakland, Calif. In 1945, they purchased a truck and went into business for the first time, ranching in Nenzel, Neb. Together, Fern and John started their second business in 1965, the Sidney Motor Lodge in Sidney, Neb. They moved to Memphis on Dec. 31, 1967, where they purchased the DeVille Restaurant and Motel. In 1975, they sold the motel and became partners in Memphis State Bank. John retired in 1982, and Fern a few years later. They traveled and enjoyed friends in Memphis until John's passing on April 23, 1986. After that, Fern visited family, traveled around the world, and settled into life in Memphis, playing golf and cards with friends and jogging. She was physically active and strong until the last year of her life. Fern was an active gardener. Her home in Memphis was selected yard of the month more than once. She was active in Sacred Heart Catholic Church as a communion minister and lector. She had a great faith and acted as a model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "She is now in the arms of the Lord." Fern was a member of the Red River Red Hatters Club and Hospital Auxiliary, and helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She loved playing bridge and golf with her friends. She was active with crossword puzzles and was a devastating (but modest) winner in the game of Boggle. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Audrey Branch Jones; five brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Kehr. Survivors include four sons, J.
