Mrs. Butler was born Nov. 7, 1946, to Billy Morgan and Betty Jo Moore Brown in Canyon. "Chief" Hobbs PAMPA - Lee B. "Chief" Hobbs, 90, died Friday, June 29, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor, and the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Hobbs was born Feb. 22, 1917, in Burkburnett, where he attended school. He married Edith Norman on Nov. 5, 1945, in Burkburnett. She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2007. He came to Pampa with FWA Drilling Co. in 1952. He worked for Service Drilling from 1966 until retiring in 1986 as their drilling superintendent. After his retirement, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, E.W. Hobbs and Robert Lynn Hobbs; and a sister, Ozell McClaskey. Survivors include a son, Dan Hobbs and wife Zonell of Pampa; two granddaughters, Susan Hobbs of Amarillo and Cindy Hobbs of Pampa; and three sisters, Frances Smith of Conroe, LaHoma Dixon of Borger and Callie Mae Bryan of Burkburnett. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Tipton was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Mahl, Nacadoches County, to Irvin and Lucinda Smelly Tipton. He married Hattie Lorene Terbush on Feb. 1, 1934, in Clarendon. He served his country in World War II with the U.S. Army. He was employed by Allis-Chalmers for many years and was also in the civil service prior to his retirement. After his retirement, he owned and operated a gun shop in Clarendon for several years. He had served as the mayor of Howardwick for a period of time. He had lived in the metroplex since 1981, and had been a resident of Arkansas and Donley County prior to that. He was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700 for 60 years. He had also been a Shriner for more than 25 years. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on Aug. 7, 1989; and a son, Leslie Tipton, on July 28, 1996. Survivors include a son, Richard Tipton of Houston; a daughter, Shirley Joyce of Fort Worth; a sister, Dorothy Bramblett of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. Hughes St. Roberta Tillmon Shaw was born Aug. 17, 1920, and passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007. Mrs. Shaw attended school in Harlington and Marshall. She was employed by Sutphen's BBQ in Borger and was a bus attendant for Amarillo Independent School District, where she retired in 1982. She was very active in her church and community. She was instrumental in the organization of the Wesley Community Center. In 1973, Roberta was named Woman of the Year in the Latino community and a reception was given in her honor at the Wesley Community Center. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Conict, Lacy Tillmon, James Hearon and William Shaw; and four sons, George Tillmon, K.P. Tillmon, Leonard Mason and Winifred Conict. Survivors she leaves to carry her legacy include five sons, Roger L. Tillmon and wife Wilma and L.T.
