Barber, 89, were Tuesday in Rose Hill Cemetery, Dr. Richard T. Hopper, retired pastor of First Baptist Church, Ardmore, officiating. Born April 16, 1903 at Mountain View to the late Andrew Madison and Martha Jane Kinney Hollis, Mrs. Barber died Thursday in Amarillo, Tex. She married the Rev. D.D. Barber in Mountain View in 1923. Rev. Barber, who was Superintendent of Missions for the Enon Baptist Assoc. in Ardmore, preceded his wife in death in 1964. Mrs. Barber was active in the association's churches. She served as a state W.M.U. worker, adult Sunday School teacher and intermediate superintendent at churches her husband pastored in Oklahoma City, Chickasha, Pauls Valley and Erick. She attended Southwestern State University and Oklahoma Baptist University. She was a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Church in Amarillo at the time of her death. A daughter, Mildred Sue Morgan also preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by two daughters, Leta Marie Fyke, Amarillo, and Margaret Rupert, Chico, Calif.; one sister Abbie Hollis, Oklahoma City, 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Panhandle Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. Services were under the direction of Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home. [Walters Herald Sept 17, 1992, page 9]
