Thomas Jan 2003 From the intersection of US 82 and TX 37 west of Clarksville, proceed on US 82 west 8.2 miles. Turn south on CR 1270 at the cem. highway marker toward Jan Kay Ranch. Proceed 1 mile to a locked gate on the right. The cemetery is about 300 yards up the hill to the southwest. It is fenced from the pasture and there are large cedar trees in and around the cemetery. Note: The large cedar tree in the southeast corner of the cemetery is inhabited by honeybees. A sign posted in the cemetery reads as follows: "Chambers Cemetery. Also called Catonville Cemetery dates back to 1840s. Colonel John Ayres Chambers deeded this land as public cemetery. Adjoining on south is 1 1/2 acre Black cemetery deeded by Dr. Van Dyke. A public road gave access to both until the 1950s." There are no markers in the south section. This is a complete listing and all markers were transcribed as accurately as possible.
