Parker, do hereby make application to the Commissioner of Pensions for a pension, to be granted me under the Act passed by the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Texas, and approved April 7, A. D. 1913 on the following grounds: I am the widow of William Monroe Parker deceased, who departed this life on the 24th day of June, A.D. 1904, in the county of (left blank), in the State of Texas. I have not remarried since the death of my said husband, and I do solemnly swear that I was never divorced from my said husband, and that I never voluntarily abandoned him during his life, but remained his true, faithful and lawful wife up to the date of his death. I was married to him on the (-) day Nov. A.D. 1870 in the county of Itawamba, in the State of Miss. My husband, the said W. M. Parker, enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the States of the United States, and that he did not desert the Confederate Service. I have been a resident of the State of Texas since prior to January 1, A.D. 1900, and have been continuously a citizen of the State of Texas. I do further state that I do not receive from any source whatever money or other means of support amounting in the value to the sum of $300.00 per annum, nor do I own in my own right nor does anyone hold in trust for my benefit or use, estate of property, either real, personal or mixed, either in fee or for life, of the value of one thousand dollars, exclusive of the home of the value of not over $1000.00; nor do I receive any aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States, or from any other source, and I do further state that the answers given to the following questions are true: 1. And further make oath to the following fact touching the servie fo the applicant's husband in the Confederate Army: (Sate fully your source of knowledge: We the undersigned, do not know the letter of Company or what Regiment W. M. Parker husband of Mrs. L. A. Parker belonged; we do know he belonged to Capt Livingstons Company our father belonged to the same company and when our father would come home W. M. Parker would come with him and would go back togeather. Capt Livingston Companys duty was to conscrifit and catch men that were trying to keep out of war service. (Signature of Witness) M. A. Parker, do hereby make application for a pension, pursuant to the provisions of the First Section of Title 109, Revised Civil Statutes, 1925, providing Confederate Pension, amended by Chapter 95, General Laws of the Fortieth Legislature, as amended Senate Bill 287, Acts of the Regular Session of the Forty-first Legislature of the State of Texas, approved March 5, 1929, on the following ground: I am the widow of W. M. Parker deceased, who departed this life on the 24th day of June, A.D. 1904, in the county of Red River in the State of Texas. Given under my hand, this 10 day of April, A.D. 1929 Jesse Peterson State and County Assessor Letter from: The State of Texas Red River County Clarksville, Texas WAR DEPARTMENT - THE ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE REF: AG 201, Parker, W. M. (4-2- 29)ORD Dated: April 5, 1929 Honorable Morris Sheppard, United States Senate. My dear Senator Sheppard: I have you letter of April 2, in which you request the Confederate military record of W. M. Parker, said to have served in Company G, 2nd South Carolina Artillery. The records show that on W. M. Parker enlisted February 4, 1864, at James Island, as a private of Company G, 2nd South Carolina Artillery, Confederate States Army. He is satisfactorily accounted for on the muster rolls to November and December, 1864, last roll on file, which shows him present, a private. Union Prisoner of War records show that he was paroled at Greensboro, North Carolina, ----, 1865, between General Joseph E. Johnston, C.S.A. and Major General W.T. Sherman, U.S.A., in North Carolina. Terrell, Comptroller, Austin, Texas. Dear Sir:- I am enclosing herewith the application of Mrs. L.A. Parker for a Confederate pension. Thanking you to give this your usual prompt attention, and with continued good wishes, I beg to remain, Yours very truly, M L Wren County Judge Letter from Comptroller of Public Accounts Dated: April 13, 1929 Hon. H.L. Wren County Judge, Clarksville, Texas. Dear Judge Wren: I am in receipt of your letter of April 10th, enclosing the application for confederate pension of Mrs. L.A. Parker, widow of W.M. Parker. You are advised that the application of Mrs. Parker is being approved today. Mrs. Parker will receive formal notice of approval within the next few days at which time an affidavit will be mailed her to be executed covering issuance of first quarterly warrant to which she is entitled, which warrant will issue on or about May 31st. Yours very truly Comptroller of Public Accounts JHT/E APPLICATION FOR MORTUARY WARRANT THE STATE OF TEXAS County of Red River I, T.T. Parker do hereby certify that I am the person to whom is entrusted the paying of the accounts and indebtedness of the late Mrs. L.A. Parker, who was a pensioner of the State of Texas, and whole file number was 45479 and whose original county was Red River. The said pensioner Mrs. L.A. Parker, died on the 26 day of October 1930, in the town of Annona County of Red River, Texas. The pensioner died in the home of Mrs. S.T. Wolf who was related to the pensioner as daughter. That the warrant, which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the fuenral expenses incurred by the said pensioner Mrs. L.A. Parker I further certify that the warrant for the current quarter has not been cashed by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief. Since September I am related to the pensioner as (Friend) Son that my postoffice address is Clarksville, Texas, R.F.D.No. 1 Signed T.T. CERTIFICATE OF UNDERTAKER I, E McClinton, do certify that I am undertake in the town of Clarksville County of Red River, State of Texas that I had charge of the body of Mrs L.A. Parker, who died in the town of Annona, County of Red River, State of Texas on the 26 day of oct 1930. That said body was prepared for burial by me on the 27 day of Oct 1930 and that I am of the opinion that warrant herein applied for should be issued to the said T.T.
