Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Downer, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Englewood Cemetery by Englunds Funeral Home. Mrs. Moore was born March 11, 1914, in Red River County to Emmett and Emily Elizabeth Lovell Smith. She moved to Abernathy in 1942, the Slaton area in 1944, and to Slaton in 1948. "Nanny" provided d ay care services to many children for 25 years. She was named Slaton's Citizen of the Month in February 1987. She has been a member of Bible Baptist Church since 1951. Surviving are eight daughters, Geraldine Cavett, Betty Rolen and Charlotte Moore, all of Slaton, Wanza Holler of Bakersfield, Calif., Maurine Luttrell of Lubbock, Edith Burrow of Irving, Elizabeth Ginn of Keene, Calif., and Patricia Robison of Paris; four sons, Bobby Moore of Cedar Hill, Kenneth Moore of Clarksville, Tenn.; R.J. Moore of Midlothian, and Billy Moore of Temple; 39 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, J.M. Degan of Lubbock and Russell Degan of Slaton. She was preceded in death by one son, Robert, and three brothers, Claude, Emmett and Elzie Smith. Her husband - Rufus Lee Moore prceeded her in death in 1987. He is buried in the Cuthand Cemetery in Red River County, Texas. Memorials may be made to Bible Baptist Church, 515 West Panhandle St., Slaton 79364.
