Death of A.H. Splawn A.H. Splawn, who has been ill for several years of consumption, died this morning about 4 o'clock at the residence of Mrs. Annie Ezell, his sister. His death was not unexpected. Mr. Splawn came here about 1875, and was engaged in the family grocery business with H.G. Gough for several years. He then embarked in the saloon business which he followed for a number of years, which resulted in the accumulation of considerable property. He sold out his interest and went into the dry goods business and then the grocery trade, but was very unfortunate. He was married to Miss Addie McMaster, daughter of the late Capt. W. H. McMaster, but she died in a year or two after the marriage, leaving no issue. Shortly after this, Mr. Splawn's health began to sink, and it has been on the decline for the past ten years. During his prosperous times, there never was a more generous or charitable giver in Clarksville than Mr. Splawn. He has hosts of friends, and in his declining days he had the best attention from friends and relatives. During the past year, he embraced the Christian religion. The funeral takes place at 5 o'clock this evening, and he will be buried beside his wife in the Baptist Cemetery. Requiescat in pace. NOTES: It is unknown in which newspaper this was published although it probably was a paper from Clarksville.
