Grace Evelyn passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ early in the morning of August 3, 2004, at the age of 92. Grace was born in Pecos, Texas in 1912 and moved with her family to California in 1918. She graduated from Whittier High School in 1930 and in 1934 married Clarence Blakeboro, her devoted husband of 69 years. Grace and Clarence made their home in Lompoc for many years before moving to Santa Barbara in 1961. Grace and Clarence have been residents of the Solvang Lutheran Home since 2002. Deeply committed to her Christian faith, Grace was a longtime member of Grace Church (now Shoreline Community Church). Whether doing household chores while listening to gospel radio, leading a bible study group despite her shy nature or dressing for church when the pain of arthritis would deter all but the strong of heart, Grace's religious devotion defined her life. Having survived two battles with .cancer over the last twenty years, Grace was no stranger to adversity. Grace's family and friends were inspired by her perseverance and courage through these challenges and guided by her wisdom. Grace is survived by her husband Clarence; her sister Betty Levens; her sons, Lee Blakeboro and Alan Blakeboro; her daughter-in-law Carol Blakeboro, who was her rock of support over the last few years of her life; and by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family expresses its appreciation to the nurses of the Solvang Lutheran Home for their loving care in Grace's final days. A family service will be planned. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers, at Grace's request, a donation to the Assistance Fund of Shoreline Community Church in Santa Barbara.
