He was born in Pecos City, Texas, and lived in Phoenix, Ariz., prior to coming to Long Beach in 1920. He was a carpenter with the Home Service Co. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Phillips of Sacramento and Henry Phillips of Phoenix; daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Smith of Long Beach and Mrs. Margaret Neal of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Bert Phillips of Maywood, James and Dean Phillips of Las Vegas, Nev., and Orris Phillips of San Diego; sister, Mrs. Nora Gesus of Hollywood; and three grand children. Funeral service will be held tomorrow at 1 p. m. in Mottell's chapel. Rev. Wendell W. Greenlee of Westminster Community Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memorial Park.
