P. Pursley, former Miami residents for a long period of years, but recently moved to Pampa, have deeded a park site to the City of Miami, known as the Jackson land, lying between the right-of-way line of the Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway company and Red Deer Creek. A Warranty Deed, properly executed, was received by The Chief and same has been turned over to city officials, who have consented to accept the property to be used as a parksite. The deed stimulates(sic) the property is to be used for a park and play grounds, and if not used for that purpose within a period of three years, the same shall be deeded back to C. P. Pursley. The parksite grounds contain all of lots Nos. 13 to 20, both inclusive, 50 feet off the west end of lots 4 Nos. 4 to 7, both inclusive, in Blk. No. 3 of the original town site of Miami, Texas. Also second tract: 140 x 150 feet out of Sec. No. 71, Blk. M2, H & G. N. Ry Co. surveys lying and adjoining Blk. No. 3. This generosity on the part of Mr. and Mrs. Pursley is greatly appreciated by every citizen in Miami and plans are already underway to improve the property and make it one of the most attractive playgrounds in the Panhandle. The only disadvantage now preventing the permanent improvememnt of the property is lack of water, but it is expected that arrangments will be made shortly for a bountiful water supply. Benches, tables, fireplaces, swings, etc., can be donated by the various clubs in Miami. It is hoped that no time will be lost in making the parksite ready for summer use.
