ABLE OATH OF IDENTITY Joseph S. Able of the county of Robertson in the State of Texas on this first day of June one thousand eight hundred and seventy four personally appeared before me, the undersigned, who being duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Joseph S. Able who was a private in Captain M. Castleys Company of infantry that he enlisted on the 11th day of September 1836 for the term of (3) three months and was discharged at Castleys Store in Nacogdoches Co. on the 11th day of Dec. 1836 by reason of exhustion of service, age __ years that he recvd the bounty warrant for 320 acres of land mentioned in certificate of J.J. Groos Compt of ___ office that attached for his service. J. S. Able Sworn to and subscribed before me, at Austin Texas this first day of June 1874 Steph. H. Darden ********************************** State of Texas Travis County This day personally appears J. L. Warren who being duly sworn according to law declares that he has known Joseph S. Able since the year 1846 that the said Able is a resident of Robertson County Texas and about 65 years of age, that he knows of his own knowledge that he is the identical man he professes to be and that he received the bounty warrant for 320 acres of land mentioned in certificate of J.J. Groos Co_. of Genl. Ld Office here to attached, for services in the Army of the Republic in 1836. J. L. Warren ********************************** State of Texas Travis County This day personally appeared H. C. Goodrich who being duly sworn according to law, declars that he has known the Joseph S. Able now present since the year 1869 that the said Able has always been considered a good citizen & truthful upright man. That he is a resident of Robertson County, about 66 years of age. That I have known him from reputation for years and an perfectly satisfied in my own mind that he is the very identical man who was in the army of the Republic in the year 1836 as shown by his own affidant and to certificate of J.J. Groos as Cms of Genl Land Office. H. C. Goodrich ********************************** State of Texas Travis County This day personally appeared A. C. Walters of Hood County Texas who being duly sworn according to law declars that the Joseph S. Able now of Robertson County Texas is the identical Joseph S. Able who was a private in Captain Castleys Company in the year 1836. I was well acquainted with him at that time and I know he was in Castleys Company. A. C.
