Contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Lilly Engleman June 19, 2002 ************************************************************************ WILL OF JULIA BATES, ROBERTSON COUNTY, TEXAS, #2481 Handwritten by Julia Bates The State of Texas, County of Robertson To All Whom It May Concern, In the Name of God Greeting: I, Julia Bates of the county of Robertson, State of Texas, being sound in mind and over the age of twenty one years and knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and wishing to dispose of my possions and belongings both in real estate and personal property while in health and strength do make this my will. After the payment of my just debts I will and bequeath to my beloved husband E. H. Bates, all of my estate wherever situated or any and all of everything which I may be possessed of at my death for his use, benefit, and mantinance during his natural life to use and operate as his own. Then I direct that my husband E. H. Bates take charge of my entire estate as provided above, but at his death I will that George V. White, who is my brother, shall inherit in fee simple all that part of said estate that may be legally or equitably vested in me, both of real estate and personal property. In the event that my husband E. H. Bates should marry again, then I direct that my brother George V. White shall enter and take possion of in his own name and right all my interest offective by law and equity. I hereby nominate and appoint my husband E. H. Bates the executer under this my will and testament, and that he is to act as said executer without bond or other security. I will and direct the probate court have nothing to do with my estate other than to probate this will and file an inventory and appraisement. In testimony whereof I Julia Bates have to this my will and testament subscribed my name, this the 20th day of January 1919. Julia Bates a codicil follows Having written this my will ten years ago, now desire to add a codicil. Instead of bequeathing to my brother George V. White all of my interest as stated above, I wish to give my two sisters Mrs. Cora L. Sandel and Mrs. Padie E. Taylor one half of it. To be equally divided betwen them one fourth each. Arnett The State of Texas, County of Robertson, County Court of Robertson, In Estate of Julia Bates, deceased On this the 18th day of May, A.D. 1936, at a regular term of this court, personally appeared Mrs. Elizabeth Nash and Frank White, in open court, who, being duly sworn, depose and say, that they personally knew Julia Bates, deceased, and were well acquainted with her handwriting and signature. That the instrument filed in this court on the 6th of May, A.D. 1936, and now shown to affiants, bearing date January 20th, 1919, and purporting to be the last will and testament of said Julia Bates, and the signature thereto, are wholly in the handwriting of the said Julia Bates. That at the date of said instrument, said Julia Bates was over twenty-one years of age and of sound mind. That afterwards, on the 21st day of April, A.D. 1935, said Julia Bates died in Robertson County, Texas, in which she had her domicile at and before her death, and without having revoked said will, except the making of a codicil thereto which is attached to said will, so far as known to affiants. Mrs. Elizabeth Nash Frank White The State of Texas, County of Robertson KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS: That we, R. R. Holbert, as principal, and the other signers hereto, as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto the County Judge of Robertson County, Texas, and his successors in office, in the sume of $1000.00; conditioned that the above bound R. R. Holbert, who has been appointed by the County Judge of Robertson County, State of Texas, administrator, with will annexed, of the estate of Julia Bates, deceased, shall well and truly perform all the duties required of him under said appointment. In testimony whereof, Witness our hands this the 12th day of May, A.D. 1936. R. R. Chambers League in Robertson County, Texas, said one-half interest being of the value of $631.00 An undivided one-half interest in and to a tract of 182 acres of land, a part of the J.
