B. C. Kirk, 73, Dies at Ballinger; Rites at 6 O'Clock Today Standard-Times News Service Ballinger, July 12 - B. C. Kirk, 73, implement dealer and prominent in church and civic activities died at 11:15 o'clock Sunday night in a local hospital after an illness of four months. He had been a Ballinger resident 53 years. Funeral services will be held at 6 o'clock Monday evening at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clarence A. Morton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. King Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Born at LaGrange, Mr. Kirk came to Ballinger in 1890 and had been active in business until stricken with paralysis four months ago. He was assistant postmaster here for a number of years. Later he became associated with A. H. Van Pelt in a hardware store. The firm became known as Van Pelt, Kirk and Mack when the late Scott H. bought an interest in it. It operated under that name until Mr. Van Pelt sold his interest. At the death of Mr. Mack several years ago, Mr. Kirk's son, Paul bought the hardware department. Mr. Kirk and Mrs. Mack's son, R. B., retained the tractor and farm implement business. Mr. Kirk was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and for 22 years served as chairman of the board of deacons.
