     Know all men by these presents that I James Smith of the County and republic 
aforesaid have Sold and by these presents do Sell unto Franklin Cook a certain piece or 
parcel of land containing Two Hundred acres for and consideration of the Sum of Eight 
hundred dollars, cash in hand to be paid and Said parcel or piece of land is bounded as 
follows: Beginning on James Smith headright the SW of Franklin J. Starrs labor, thence 
N to the NE corner of said 640 acre Survey, thence S West this same variation of James 
Smith's headright, thence with Said line to the place of beginning of the 640 acre 
Survey those boundaries to include two hundred acres more or less.
     Now the conditions of the above obligation is such that if the above named James 
Smith shall make a good valid title to the aforesaid Franklin Cook So soon as he, the 
said Smith shall obtain a Patent for his land from the Government, then this obligation 
to be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue in law.

Given under my hand and Seal the day and date above written.

     For and in consideration of four Hundred dollars to me in hand paid by William B 
Ochiltree of the county aforesaid, I have this day bargained sold and delivered and do 
by these presents bargain sell and deliver unto the said Ochiltree, his heirs and 
assigns forever, all the within described premises and all the rights and immunity 
therein described as conveyed to me by James Smith. In Witness whereof I have hereunto 
set my hand and Seal this 5th day of February 1844.

Fifty acres of the within described Land is contained in James Smith's bond to me for 
three hundred acres of Land, known as the Vandyke land.
