Services for Mrs. Carrie Mae Hedge, 70, of 501 Woodlawn, a well known and long-time school teacher and administrator here, will be held in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Woods, rector of St. Matthews Episcopal church officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hedge, a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church and retired principal of Central Elementary School, died in Medical City Hospital in Dallas at 8am friday following a brief illness. She had resided in Henderson 46 years. She spent 35 years in school teaching and administration and retired as principal of Central Elementary on June 1, 1974. She served as principal for 25 years. Mrs. Hedge was one of the organizers of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Henderson and was a past president of both the American Cancer Society and the local district of the Texas State Teachers Assn. She was also a past president of the Henderson Women's club and was a member of the American Society of University Women. Survivors are her husband, W. Prentiss Hedge of Henderson; two daughters, Mrs. Pat Skinner of Austin and Mrs. John Blackwood of Plano; two brothers, Dr. Spencer Carruthers of Greenville and William Carruthers of Wichita Falls, and three granddaughters, Jennifer Elizabeth Blackwood of Plano and Elizabeth Ann and Rebecca Sharon Skinner, both of Austin. Pallbearers will be Lewis Land, Ray Hall, Landon Alford, Charles Richardson, Michael Kangerga and Richard Ogden.
