Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A Crim Funeral Home. Mrs Mitchell died peacefully in her home on Monday, March 13, 1995 at 6:30 am. She was born Jan 21, 1911 in Henderson to her parents Mattie Mae and E F Crim, Sr. Her grandparents were Mr and Mrs John Wesley Crim and Mr and Mrs Franklin Hiram Spharler all of Henderson. She proudly graduated valedictorian from Henderson High School and received her higher education at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. She was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. On Nov 14, 1932 she married Dr Clifford Gordon Engle in her parent's home. Her marriage to Dr Engle gave her what she considered her greatest joy, her only child and son, Ronald Crim Engle, born on June 18, 1936. After a tragic car accident on Oct 15, 1940, she was widowed at the early age of 29. She later married Robert William Mitchell, a certified gemologist and owner of Mitchell's Jewelry Store on Oct 15, 1946. Their marriage lasted 39 years until his death on July 26, 1986. Mrs Mitchell was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Henderson. She belonged as a member to the Rusk Sunday School Class. Her faith was the heart of her daily life. She devoted herself to her family and friends. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7pm to 8pm tonight. Mrs Mitchell led a gentle life and will be greatly missed, especially by those who survived her which include her brother and sister-in-law Mr and Mrs E F Crim, Jr, her two granddaughters Carolyn Jean Engle Stokes and Mary Frances Engle Alford and her six nieces and nephews E F Crim III and Kathryn Crim Loritsch of Chicago. Amanda Crim Rawlingson of Tyler. James R Mitchell of Dallas, Robert Mitchell of Houston and Mary Emily Mitchell Soloff of New York. Pallbearers for the service will be Billy Crawford, Scott Gibson, Dr Anthony Rector, Milford Tate, Rickey Strong, Gene Sparkman. Honorary pallbearer will be Jewel Howard.
