Keep in mind that other instruments besides deeds may be recorded in these old deed books, such as the Wills and Ferry Bonds that follow here. JOEL BAGGETT WILL -RUSK COUNTY Deed Book "A", pages 15 & 16 The Republic of Texas ) ) October 10, 1843 County of Rusk ) Be it known to all whom it may concern that I Joel Baggett am now in my right mind and make this my Last Will and Testament in the presants of God, Amen. I wish my body to be laid away in decency and upon my own premises at the little graveyard, and all expenses to be paid out of my perishable property, and all the residue divided as follows, viz: I have given to my son previously two hundred and fifty dollars, also to my daughter Nancy Robertson two hundred and fifty dollars Also daughter Martha Pyles two hundred and fifty dollars Also my son Silas Two Hundred Dollars I make and appoint John Walling my Lawful Executor to do and perform all that is required concerning the residue of my property. I give and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Nancy, one third part of the appraised value of the land and negros during her life time or widow hood and at her death or marriage her part to be divided between William and Abraham and Joel and Elexandria and Wyla and Burrell and Clarasa Jane and Mary and Susanna and the two thirds of the appraised value of the negros is also to be divided between the above named children from William down. I impower the above named executor to pay to my son Silas (page 16) fifty dollars to make him have two hundred and Fifty Dollars out of the perishable property and the residue of the money to be put to the use of educating the childring.
