SOME RUSK COUNTY DEEDS - DEED BOOK "A"  (Continued)

        County    }     Know all men by these presents that I William Tompson of the 
State and County aforesaid for and in consideration of the true? love and affection I 
bare towards my Daughter, Betsy Ann Rodes of Watson County in said State, do give, 
grant and convey unto the said Betsy Ann my said daughter, a Negro Girl Slave by the 
name of Cynthia, about fifteen years of age of the value of three hundred dollars.
     To have and to hold the said negro girl to said Betsy Ann and to her own seperate 
use and benefit for and during the time of her natural life and then to the issue of 
her body Lawfully begotten forever. And I the said William Thompson for myself, my 
heirs, executors & administrators the right and title to the said negro girl unto the 
said Betsy Ann Rodes, her heirs and assigns will and do forever warrant and defend by 
virtue of these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 
21st day of August 1831.

County of Rusk        }     This day personly came before me J. R. Vannov, County 
Clerk of the aforesaid county. John C. Miller and after being duly sworn according to 
Law says that he is and was well acquainted with the signatures of the said William 
Tompson and Johnson Tompson and the names here assigned to the foregoing instrument is 
the signature sworn unto and subscribed in the presence 
of J. R. Vannoy, County Clerk                       Day of October 1843.
