We should keep in mind that deeds list specific names, often giving kinship, as well as locations in a specific place and time period. REPUBLIC OF TEXAS } COUNTY OF RUSK } This indenture made and entered into this twenty-first day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty three by and between Daniel Warren of said county and Republic of the first part and Eli B. Warren, his sons, Henry Jackson Warren and George Washington Warren, Marcus B. Warren, and his father, Nathan Warren; Eliza Crockett and her sons, Henry Jackson Crockett and Daniel Warren Crockett and Margaret Elizabeth Ann Warren, Daughter of Henry Warren, deceased, of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Daniel Warren for and in consideration of the natural love and affection he bears to his children and grand children, the parties of the Second part and the sum of One Dollar; to him in hand, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given, granted, bargained and sold unto the said Eli B. Warren, one negro woman slave named Mahala and her Six children, viz; John, Bell, Pomp, Mary, Winkey and David during his natural life and at his Death then desend to his sons, Henry Jackson Warren and George Washington Warren, their heirs and assigns forever. To Marcus B. Warren, one negro Boy named Taylor, aged about nineteen, to him and his heirs forever provided that his father, Nathan Warren, shall have and enjoy the use and occupation of said negro during his natural life. To ,Eliza Crockett one negro woman named Catharine and her six children, viz Jim, Maarqert, Lolly, Bailey, Maria, Keziah, during her natural life and at her death to descend to her two sons, Henrv Jackson Crockett and Daniel Warren Crockett, their heirs and assigns forever and to Margaret Elizabeth Ann Warren, daughter of Henry Warren. deceased, a tract of land being the headright of the said Daniel Warren adjoining the lands of Thomas Crockett, supposed to be in the County of Rusk, and containing Two Hundred and forty acres, her heirs and assigns forever.
