(Corsicana, Texas) Tuesday, July 23, 1935, Page 1 July 23, 1935 Man Is Held For Questioning In Death Center Man. - SAN AUGUSTINE, July 23. - (AP) - A man was held at Hemphill today for questioning in connection with the death of Charles Ingle of Bronson who was found with his skull fractured by the blow of an axe near here Sunday night. Ingle, who never regained consciousness, died yesterday at Center. Officers said a blood-stained trail led from Ingle's home to the spot where the body was found. (Bryan, Texas) Tuesday, July 23, 1935, page 6 SUSPECT IS JAILED IN TEXAS AX DEATH. - SAN AUGUSTINE, July 23. - His skull fractured by a blow from an ax, Charles Ingle, 27, of Bronson, Sabine county, died in a hospital at Center early Monday as authorities held a suspect in jail at Hemphill in connection with his death. The wounded man was found on a railroad track late Sunday by Henry Emmons. Ingle was unconscious and was rushed to a doctor's office here and later moved to the hospital at Center, where he died at 3 a.m. Monday. Officers said a blood-stained trail led from Charles Ingles' home to the spot on the railroad track where his inert form was found by Emmons. Evidence of a fight was visible at the Ingle home, officers said. source: The Marshall News Messenger. (Marshall, Texas) Tuesday, July 23, 1935, page 1 Father and Son To Be Questioned In two Slayings. - Different Murders Believed to Be Work of Hemphill Pair - HEMPHILL (U.P.) - A father and his son were in jail here Monday night, each of them held for questioning in connection with a different slaying. Paul Ingle, 17, the son, was arrested Monday after his brother, Charles, 27, died from a skull fracture received when he was strusk [sic] on the head with an ax. Charles Ingle, whose home is at Bronson, was found unconscious on a railroad track Monday. He was rushed to a hospital at Center, where he died. Officers followed a trail of blood back to his house, where Ingle apparently was fatally injured. Officers believed that Ingle was struck during a fight, and that in an effort to reach help he staggered as far as the railroad track, where he collapsed. He was found by Henry Emmons. Paul Ingle was arrested at the home of his sister. Paul's father, Mack Ingle, 56, already was in jail here, held without bond in connection with the death of Ben Garlington, who was slain about two months ago. Charles Ingle is survived by his parents, sister and four brothers.
