(Shreveport, LA) Thursday, November 03, 1960, page 47 JOHN HORTON - HEMPHILL, Tex., Nov. 2 (Special) - John Horton, 64, died today in Jasper, Tex., after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of World War I and a retired employe [sic] of the Texas Forest Service. Funeral services will be held at the Texas Service. Vine Baptist Church with the Rev. W. T. Love and the Rev. David Blalock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Juanita McCrosky of Jasper, Mrs. Bobbie Wyatt of Houston and Mrs. Avaline Dickerson and Mrs. Marvis Wright of Dallas; five sons, John Horton, Jr., of Houston, Burnize Horton of Rose Vine. Billy R. Horton of Jackson, Mo., Bobby J. Horton of Bronson and Buford Horton of Pineland; two brothers, Sid Horton of Hemphill and Lige Horton of Bronson; four sisters, Mrs. Letha Stark of Silsbee, Mrs. Mary Latham of Hemphill, and Mrs. Susie Chambers and Mrs. Essie McGown of Bronson; and 13 grandchildren.
