Steinman of 2375 McFaddin, Beaumont, architect for more than half a century, died at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont after an illness of several months. He was 95. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Broussard's Mortuary with the Rev. Bruce Power, associate pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. Although he has designed many buildings in Beaumont and other cities, Mr. Steinman was best known for his designs for Beaumont City Hall, the old Edson Hotel, Beaumont High School and the present Federal Building in Beaumont. A native of Mansfield, La., he moved to Beaumont in 1901 and formed an architectural partnership with a Mr. Whitney. In 1919, he went into practice for himself and formed the association of F. W. Steinman and Son, a firm now operated by his son and grand-son. He retired from regular practice in 1936. Mr. Steinman was formerly active in the Elks Club and was a charter member of the Beaumont Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dollie B. Steinman of Beaumont, the former Dollie B. Cordray of Milam; a son, D. E. Steinman Sr.,; a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Dickson, both of Beaumont; five grandchildren, Douglas Steinman, Jr., Mrs. Miriam Landry, J. A. Dickson and W. S. Dickson, all of Beaumont, and Miss Sue Steinman of Oslo, Norway; 13 great-grandchildren and a brother, Ed Steinman of Houston.
