Funeral services for Rev. Robert Lee Strickland, 86, of Orange, a First Church of God minister, were held Sunday at 10 a.m. in Claybar Funeral Home of Orange. He died Saturday at 7 p.m. enroute [sic] to a local hospital following an apparent heart attack. Rev. Tommy Long, pastor of Hemphill Church of God and Rev. L. G. Hardesty officiated. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. in Glendale Cemetery in Lufkin. A native of Sabine County, he had lived in Orange five years. He was a First Church of God minister for 50 years. Survivors include four sons, J. H. Strickland of Orange, Paul Strickland of Nacogdoches, C. M. Strickland of Fort Worth and O. L. Strickland of New Orleans; one stepson, James O'Riley of Pineland; two step-daughters, Mrs. Hugh Fountain of Beaumont and Mrs. Earl Spell of Kirbyville; one brother, G. F. Strickland of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Fannie Fuller of Carlsbad, N. M.; and seven grandchildren.
