Catholic and Smith Cemeteries, San Augustine County, Texas *********************************************************** Submitted by: Bobby Britnell Date: 21 Feb 2010 Copyright. As with all cemeteries we have transcribed, photographs were taken of each headstone. These pictures are available free by email request to Bob at misterbob@suddenlink.net. Additionally, Bob will visit cemeteries in San Augustine, Nacogdoches, and Angelina Counties for research and/or pictures if requested; contact by e-mail. (there is never a charge for this service; it's my full-time hobby). Catholic Cemetery is partially enclosed by a fence, and includes the separately- fenced "Smith Cemetery". We have chosen to include that transcription here, but have listed the 17 burials in that smaller enclosure separately to aid in locating individual graves. Another separate fenced area, attached to, but outside of, the perimeter fence encloses the five "THOMSON" burials listed with the "Catholic Cemetery" burials. This cemetery is identified on some maps as "Smith Cemetery". DIRECTIONS: From San Augustine, go east on SR21 1.5 miles; there is a sign on the left side of the road for the cemetery, which is on the right. The driveway to the cemetery is too steep and degraded to safely enter the cemetery, but access is possible thru the next driveway. There is ample parking space beside the road.
