Macune is another old cemetery, with a few citizens of the 
Republic of Texas, and a Soldier of the Republic of Texas, who was 
also a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence from Mexico.
Directions: From San Augustine: just south of town on US96 go right 
on SR147. Go south on 147 about 7.5 miles; the cemetery is on the 
left in the curve. Go just past the cemetery and turn left on CR316, 
which is a narrow dirt road. Park at the church.  Coming from the 
South, take SR103 to SR147; go north on 147 a little less than 2 
miles; when the road makes a sharp curve to the left, continue 
straight on CR316, a dirt road, and park at the church.
The names are listed alphabetically by last name but not first name, 
to help preserve adjacencies. When we felt it would be helpful in 
identifying individuals, we made a notation of adjacencies. We also 
included notes about individuals who are in our family files. 
(Information we provided, but is not on the headstone, is in 
parenthesis) The cemetery is divided into two distinct sections, 
separated by a wide unused area; to make it easier to locate 
individual graves, we have listed them by those sections. As you 
stand at the gate beside the church, the new section is to the left, 
the old section on the right.
