Kyser Austin, Texas My Dear Friend, You have very recently, no doubt, received the application of Mrs. M.M. Senterfitt of San Saba County for a pension as the widow of a Confederate Soldier. You will note an unfortunate error on the property assessment. Affidavits accompany the application, showing that no part of the property assessed in her name is hers; but belongs to her sons. Judge, I know that no worthier applicant has ever appealed to you for this help. Her husband was a true hero of the Gray, and she has nothing of her own, nor anybody legally liable for her support. Her children are glad to take care of her, but she really and richly deserves this help. I know how ready and anxious you are to help them all, and thought I would send you this word of personal assurance of her real merit in the case. Please grant it and we'll all love you yet more and appreciate you above all others. Your friend, S.H. Allen TYPED LETTER INCLUDED IN PENSION FILE February 6, 1947 Mrs. M.C.
