All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** The Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Taylor County, Texas Sunday, January 9, 1944 Handrick Rites at Albany Today ALBANY, Jan. 8 Funeral for Mrs. August Handrick, 71, will be held at the Albany Lutheran church Sunday with the Rev. C.H. Mutschink, pastor officiating. Burial in the Albany cemetery under the direction of J.L. Castleberry, funeral director. Mrs. Handrick, a resident of Shackelford county for 36 years, died at the family residence six miles south of Albany Friday, of bronchial pneumonia after a week illness. Mrs. Handrick was born 10 June 1871 at Serbin, in Lee county, Texas, where the first Lutheran settleman was formed in Texas. She was married to August Handrick in January 1889 and moved to Shackelford county in 1908 and purchased the small ranch where they now live, and have been engagedin stockfarming. Mrs. Handrick, has been an active faithful member of the Lutheran church since a small child. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and took an active part in all the activities of the church. Survivors: her husband, 4 sons - Alvin Handrick, Robert Handrick, Arthur Handrick of Albany, Walter Handrick of Monahans; 4 daughters - Mrs. Ben Schkade, Mrs. Louis Boettcher, Mrs. Louise Adams of Albany, Mrs. C.F. Teige of Houston; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
