All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** The Albany Echo Saturday, 12 January 1884 Shooting at Abilene Tuesday last [8 January 1884], Zeno Hemphill, well known in this country a few years ago as a wild and reckless cow man, and Frank and Walter Collins of Abilene, were all killed at that place. Hemphill was running a gaming house, Frank Collins a saloon, and Walter Collins was deputy marshal of Abilene. Walter Collins received two shots in the abdomen which proved fatal. Hemphill received five shots and died almost instantly. Frank Collins’ wounds are considered fatal.
