Mr. Maddox was a deputy sheriff of Shackelford County and was in Sherman in attendance at district court as a witness. He was accidentally shot by his own hand. He was a Texan by birth, born in Grayson County, 21 March 1858. His remains accompanied by his mother, younger brother and Col. J.B. Barry, arrived here on Tuesday and were conveyed to the residence of Col. Barry, where Del has made his home for a number of years. He was a stockholder in and range superintendent of the Northwest Texas Norman Horse Company and shortly before his death he called a brother, two uncles and Col. Barry to his bedside and not being able to write, gave them verbal instructions what disposition to make of his property.
